United Church Women
The 'United Church Women met
in the basement of Duff's Church
on Wednesday afternoon, Febin
nary 3rd, with nine ladies present,
Mrs. Walter Bewley; 2nd Vice-
President, called the meeting to
order at 2 p.m., -opening with read-
ing tram Isiah. Chapter 40; verses
28.3-, following with prayer. Plans
were made for the World. Day of
Prayer to be held on Friday,
March 5th, With services in the
Walton Church at 2 p.m. with
ladies of all denominations of the
entire community cordinally in-
vited to attend. Special music will
be provided and a social half
hour will follow, The Huron-
Perth annual meeting is to be held
at- Mitchell United Chnrch on
Wednesday, February 17th With

one is requested to take their own
box lunch and beverage Will be
provided.
The Easter Thank Offering was
discuased, With tentative dates
being set for Sunday evening
April 13' er 25, to be announced
later when speaker can come, The
next executive meeting will be
held on the first Wednesday in

come to attend these meetingS.
There will not be another general
Meeting of the U.C.W. until May
when it will be a. supper meeting
with all Units taking part. With
no further business the meeting
was adjourned.

Many in this area were without
hydro for 12 hours on Friday.
Quite a number are without tele-
phones since the freezing rain.
Knox Church Holds
Annual Meeting And
Pot-Luck Dinner
A congregational net-lnck din-
ner preceded the annual meeting
Knox Presbyterian Church held
in the basement. This meeting
Was scheduled nor 'a. week earlier
and had to be postponed because
of weather conditionS. The
weather wasn't good again. , and
cut down attendance. Clare Veitch,
clerk of the session,_ presided
over the meeting, which opened
with prayer, Mrs.. Gordon Engel
as named secretary ror the
meeting and read the minutes of
the last meeting. The financial
reports had been printed and dis-
tributed to the members. There
was a brier discussion amid they
were approved. Three new memb-
ers Were elected to the Board of
Managers. Alfred Knight, Stanley
Fischer and Jim Knight. Mrs. M.
J. Engel was re-appointed secne-
tary-treasurer. Organists are MI'S.
Stuart McNair and :Mrs. Stewart.
Steiss. Jack Knight and Stewart
Steiss were appointed ushers and
Earl Dunn and Leslie Knight
assistants. Mrs. Lytle Gordon is
the auditor from, the congregation
and a second one Will be appoint-
ed (rein the Boand of Managers..A
discussion on the Budget. resulted
in it reinaining the same as the
previOus year.
