about half the size of those used

THE PRAYING HANDS.
The "Praying Hands" are much,
much more than just a work
of art,
They are the "soul's creation" of
a deeply thankful heart, --
They ore a priceless masterpiece
that love alone could paint,
And they reveal the selflessness
of an unheralded saint —
These hands so scarred and toil-
worn, tell the story ,of a man
Who sacrificed his talent in ac-
cordance to God's plan —
For in fltni'a plan are many things
man cannot understand,
But we must trust God's judge-
ment and he guided by His
Hand —
Sometimes He asks us to give up
our dreams of happiness,
Sometimes we must forgo "Our
hones of fortune and sue-
cess
Not all of us can triumph or rise
to heights of fame.
And many times what should be
ours, goes to another name -----
But be who makes a sacrifice, so
another may succeed.
Is indeed a true disciple of our
blessed Saviour's creed —
For when we "Give Ourselves
Away"' in sacrifice and love,
We are "laying-up rich treasures"
in God's kingdom above —
And hidden in gnarled. toilworn
*hands is the truest art of
living,
Achieved alone by those who've
learned the "Victory of
Giving",

NEW FUNGICIDES
NOW AVAILABLE.
TWA new liquid fungaeides for
Cereal and seed treatment have
recently been developed to •re-
plaee the products containing
organic luercurials Which are
being phased
;Known as Liquid Polyram and
Vi tat low, the two contain no
mercury and, according to Dr. L.
Edington, Department of
'Botany, University of Guelph. are
harmless to the onvirouient and.
have proved capable of contr01-
ling fungi on cereal seed,
"Before Liquid Polyram and
Vitaflow came along," said Dr.
Edgington, "it seemed that seed
treatment would have to be done
cvih non-mercurial dust formul-
ations for use in the seed drill.
'These would have been 'instals-
factory because. the commercial
application equipment available
is designed tot fung,acides,'!
l)r. Edgington said the recent
trial With a commercial tYPO
„treater, conducted with Mr. W. A
Taylor, Ontario Department of
Agriculture and Pood, University
.of Guelph, showed the two new
liquid fungocides were evenly ,dis-
tributed on seed, Seeds were treat-
ed then placed on an agar medinin
containing fungi. After two dayS
the "zone of inhibition of the
fungi" around such seed was
served to be quite similar, indicat-
ing uniform distribution of the:
fungacideS on seed,
While Liquid Polyram. has been
approved for use since November,
Vitaflow was recently approved
for the first time and Should soon
be available on a commercial
basis.
