BOARDS The Inaugural. Meeting of th0 Oanadlan National institute for the Blind Advisory Boards of the Counties • of . Huron and Perth, was held on. Wednesday, Novern- ber 25th, at the Royal Hotel, Mitchell- Prior to this meeting each County had its own Board which made available the services of the CNIB to the blind people in the, area. The pnrpose of aniling the two groups of volunteer workers is to increase efficiency and im- prove the service to the blind A new Executive was elected as follows: chairman, Mr. Harry Lear of Blyth; 1st Vice Chairman, Mr. E. M. Creighton, Listowel; 2nd Vice-Chairman, Mrs. R. E. Young, Btratford; Secretary, Mr. Eric Luther of Eensall and Treas- urer, Mr. Norman McIntyre, God- erich. Mr. Wes, Stanley, Administra- tor of District Operations CNIB Toronto, presented the new Board with their Constitution and con- gratulated the group and thanked. them for their interest and help in making a fine contribution to the overall program off assists ance to Canada's 29,000 sight- less people. Mr. Stanley went.- ioned that the need for train- ing for blind persons is still vital in'order for the blind to adjust to living in our sighted world. There are currently 81. blind people in the County of Huron and .58 in Stratford and Perth, ',County, receiving servic from ON,113. Mr. R. B. Cousins is the Brussels representative and Mr. John E. Yuill conducted this year's appeal for funds for the blind. ,• "THE GOOD DRIVER", The composition. of traffic on highways is just one index of the difference between the western world and the less developed nations. For instance, the Ontario . Safety League quotes a recent survey made at a ferry site in India where a bridge is needed. A sample of 1,522 vehicles gave 11/2 % motorey-cles. 4% passenger cars, 9% buses, 19% trucks, 30% bullock carts and 30 %biey- ekes.
