8th and -16th Unlit Meeting
The 8th and 16th Unit of the
U.C.W. of Duff's United Church,
Walton met at the ]ionic of Mrs.
Jim Fritz on Wednesday even-
ing. Mrs. Jim Smith opened the
meeting with a poem, "A Thanks-
giving Thought" Hymn was sung
and the 'scripture, Psalm 92: 1-5
and 11 Corinthia.nS 12 :1-10 with
Meditation read by Mrs. Smith
followed with a verse, "So Little
Time", The roll call was answered
by 12 Members. One visitor was
present. Minutes were read by the
secretary, Invitatiohs were given
out to attend several Thank offer-
ings. -Mrs.Alvin McDonald gave
a report of the Morning session
and Mrs, George McCall of the
afternoon session of the Ninth
Centre Regional United Church
Women's Convention which was
held in Londesboro United
Church. Grace was sung and
lunch served by Mrs. Jim Mc-
Donald, Mrs, Don Arent:maid and
the hostess. Officers elected for
1911 were read out as follows:

The Walton Wqmen'S Institute
held their October meeting in the
Cointuunity Hall, Wednesd ay,

evening, October 28. The 1Presi-:
•dent called the meeting to' order
with the Institute Ode, The Mary
Stewart Collect and 0 Canada.
Mrs. Bill Humphries, the secre-
tary-treasurer, read the minutes
of the last meeting. Roll call was
answered •by 35- Members donat-
ing something for the Cancer
Cupboard, and there were three
gnest present. The treasurer's re-
port was given and correspond-
one attended to, An invitation was
accepted from Ethel W. 1. to
attend their meeting on • Novem-
ber 18, at 8;30 p.m. when a bazaar
and bake sale will be held. It was.
voted that we would donate to the
Blind and help other Institutes,
support an adopted child. It was.
decided to 'cater to a banquet •fOr..
the Walton Bantam ball team

make plans. The Euchre card
parties will start on November
13, to be held in the community
hall with the committee Mrs.
Harold Wilson, Mrs. . Mervin

will be MrS. W. E. Turnbull, Mrs.

phries. It was decided to invite

ing. Mrs. Allan McCall gave a
report of the two- day G•tielph Area
Convention which she attended
last month at the University of
Guelph. A report, of the County
Women's Institute Rally held re-
cently at Centralia was giveli by
the delegates, Mrs. George McCall
and Mrs. Alvin McDonald. The
meeting was .turned over to the
convenors, Mrs. 'Roy. Williamson
and Mrs. Harold Bolger, in
charge. The guest speaker, Mre,
D. S. MeNaughton of Whigham,
was introduced by Mrs. • William-
soil. It, being on. "Health" Mrs.
MeNaughton spoke on Cancer.
She is very active at the Wing-
ham Cancer Olivia and gave us
all an idea what they are doing
and what can be done. 'She was so
pleased with all •the giftS and
money and said it would help out
so much as sometimes the cup-
board becomes very bare,She was
thanked by Mrs. Bolger for her
enlightening address and pre-
sented with a gift on behalf of
the institute. The meeting was
closed with "d'od SaVe the Queen"
followed by ' lunth being served
