The 3rd meedng of the Ethel
Ever-Readies was held on Sept.
28th at Grey Central School. We
opened our meeting with the 441
pledge. The. minutes of the meet-
ing were read by Jacquie Guy.

the Thanksgiving weekend with

Mrs, Lawrence Ryan and
daughter. Teresa visited, for a
week with her other daughter,
Mrs. Don McDonald of Pierefonds,
near Montreal.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Ennis visit-
ed over the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs L. Kelly, near Toronto, and
Mr. and Mrs: Ronald Ennis and
family of Whitby,
We are sorry to hear that Mrs.
Harvey Brown of Lilyth is a
patient in Sudbury Hospital, she
suffered a heart attack while
holidaying. Her many Walton
friends wish her a speedy re-
covery and will soon be able to
be moved to Witighain Hospital
to be near her family.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan McCall and
Beverly and Tom Stevenson
visited on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. John Currie, Cheryl and
Rhonda and Mr. Donald Currie
of Brampton.
We are glad to see Ann Clark
home again. She spent several
Weeks in Seaforth Hospital, hav-
ing injured her heel in a harVest-
ing accideel..
Congratulations to Miss Rose-
mary Ryan, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Ryan RR 4, Walton: She
won the "Queen of the Furrow"
competition at the Perth County
Plowmen's match last week at a
farm near Staffa.
Dr. Brian and Mrs. -Traviss of
Hamilton were holiday weekend
guests at the home of Mr. and
Mts: Herbert Traviss.
Mr and Mrs. Bob Malaise of
Payne Court visited Mr and Mrs.
Lloyd Walker over the weekend
and took in the Hilton County
Plowing Match on Saturday, Oct-
ober 10th on the Joe Ryan farm,
Walton.

a motor trip last week going as
far as Sault Ste Marie,

attended the Huron County Plow-
ing match on the Ryan farm.
The Walton Intermediate Soft
Ball Team were entertained at a
social evening when they had
supper at the Blue Barn, 'List-
owel. later at a dance at. the Park-
view Garden also at Listowel.

Cranbrook W.I. Meeting
Mrs. Clare Veitch was hostess
for the October meeting of the
W. I. The meeting was opened as
usual with the president Mrs. Jas.
Hart in the chair. The roll call
was "a favourite artist or paint-
ing." Mrs. 'Les'lie Knight read the
Minutes and the treasurer's re-
port was given by Mrs. Frank
Workman. Reports ; on the County
Rally held at Centralia on Octob-
er iith were given by the dele-
gates, Mrs. Clare Veitch and
Mrs. Wilfred Strickler. The motto
"Get started you cannot plough a
field by turning it over in your
mind" was given by Mrs. Ross
Knight. Mrs. Strickler. 'introduced
her neice,. Mrs. -Glynn Coghlin,
Atwood, the guest artist who gave
an interesting demonstratitin of
landscape painting and bad on
display several fine- pictures

Coghiin teaches art at eight
school in Listowel • and Palmer-
ston. She was thanked and pre-
sented with a gift of appreciation
on behalf of 'the group. The lunch
committee composed of Mrs.
Urban Ducharme and Mrs. John
Strickler assisted with refresh-
ments.
W.M.S: Afternoon Group
Mrs. 'Wilfred Strickler was
leader for the October meeting of
the Afternoon Group of the
W. M. S. held at the home of
Mrs. Mac Engel, The meeting
opened with a poem and hymn,
the Scripture reading Psalm 100
was in unison, Mrs. Strickler
giving the meditation and a pray-
er by Mrs. John Perrie. The roll
call •
Was a Thanksgiving verse.
The November meeting is to be.
at Mrs. Lylle Gordon's when the
Presbyterial visitor, Mrs. Jas.
McNeil, Atwood, will be present.
Members of the Evening Group
will be included. A reading
"Thanks" was given by the lead-
er and Mrs. Clare Veitch led in a
Thanksgiving prayer Topic "The
Good Providence or God" was in
charge of Mrs Mac Engel, In
speaking of thankfulness it was
suggested that the custom • of
thanksgiving should he reversed.
Instead of selecting just one day
to give thanks once a year,. we
should set aside one day for • gen-
eral complaining, and be thank-
ful for our blessings all the other
