THE BRUSSELS FAIR
'Well, I was at the Brussels nit,
"Pie day was fine I do declare,
.And just before we Yeached the
gate
`I said, By gum, We must be late,
'See all The 'ears there on the
ground,
and all the people standing round.
`f.Che,:e 'surely came from here and
there
And some who came from 40
knows where
Firt thing we saw the parade,
'They marched right in and there
tlrey 'stayed. '
-Of course the pipers led the way
'They all were there this lovely
day.
children marched from near
at hand
And then the Seaforth High
School Band,
Their.music was just really grand,
"They kept in step, that bugle
• band,
And then came children by the
'score,
f cannot say how many more,
Ant then there were some little
chaps
'Who just got off their mother's
lap.
Of course they tried. to keep in
step, •
It is a day they'll not forget.
Of course , the teachers were in
charge,
'They feared the kids might run at
MI&
And then we journeyed in the
hall,
I can't begin to tell you all
'The nice things that we saw in
there
There. here and there, and every
where.
Those' lovely cakes and apple
pies,
All made with Brussels northern
orlYs•
The fancy work and pretty
flowers
In placing them took many hours.
Well we must hurry on our way,
There is so much to see today,
We journeyed down just near the
gate,
!Got standing room before too late.
The announcer, who did very
well,
With every class surely did tell.
Who owned the horses in the ring,
Who got the prize, and every-
thing.
Those lovely horses took my eye,
The lighter ones, how they could
My,
The hackneys surely show their
knees,
Just like the girls Who try to
please
The boys, who have not combed
hair
Since last year for the Brussels
their hair
The heavy horses were 'so grand,
I think the finest in the land.
We saw cattle, swine, and fancy
geese,
And sheep with such a lovely
fleece.
I know T did hot see it all
I Missed the hens along the wall.
But hest of all old friends you
meet
The kind you aiweya to greet,
