Walton W.I. Meeting
•The Walton Women's Institute
held their monthly meeting in the
Community Hall, Wednesday
evening, September .23rd. Mrs.
McDonald, the president,
chaired the meeting opening with
the "Institute Ode"', the "Mary
Stewart Collect" and '0 Canada"
with Mrs. Wilbur Turnbull as
pianist for the evening, Mrs. Wm.
Humphries read the minutes of
the last meeting. The Roll Call
was answered by 33 members and
there were lour visitors present.

ing delegate, to attend the WI
Area Convention in Guelph on.
October 19 - 20. Mrs. Jan van
Viiet Jr. will attend to lead in.

On Monday, Oct. 5, lunch to be
served in the cafeteria. The
meeting was turned over to the
convenors in charge of "Reso-
lutions". Mrs. Geo. McCall intro-
ducedv the guest speaker, Mr. Mill,
a. lawyer, who spoke on "Fastate
-Taxes". He stressed it was a
basic and very confusing law. He
spoke on drawing up wills. A
question and answer period fol-
lowed which proved most inter-
esting and very informative. Mrs.
James Nolan expressed thangs
to -air. Mill and presented him
with a gift on behalf of the Insti-
tute. The treasurer took up the
regular collection and the pennies
for friendship, The envelopes
were collected from each member
towards the "Bakelss Bake Sale".

The first meeting of the Walton
E Club members was held at the
home of the leader, Mrs. Gerald
Watson. The election, of officers
are as follows: President, Kim

Searle; Press Reporter, Joan
Bennett. Keeping Mentally Fit
and handicrafts were discussed,

NEWS OF BRUSSELS
PUBLIC SCHOOL
The Brussels Fall Fair was held
Thursday and :, Friday,' September
24th and 25th.
On Thursday. night, the pupils
gave, a very enjoyable. singsong
and program. at ,the Crystal Pal-
ace.
On Friday morning school was
held until 11:00 ain, when the
town children went home for
lunch and prepared for the fair.
At 12.30 the country pupils. march-
ed to Victoria Park where they
met the town children, Marching
from the park to the fair grounds
they were joined by the kinder-
garten class at McDonald's
Lumber .Yard.
While the schools marched to
the track on the fair grounds, the
marching was judged. After the
fair was opened the results were
as follows. 1. Grey Ceneral 2.
Brussels 3 Walton.
There might be a dance Friday
night hut first Mr. Scott has to
give permission.

Held their fifth meeting at the
home of Marie Nolan on Saturday,
afternoon, Sept. 26. The president
opened the meeting with the 4-H
pledge. Paty McDonald, the secre-
tary read the minutes and gave
the Roll' Call which was answered
by eight members, 'Notes were.
given by the leaders on different
kinds of burns and treatment. If
Beverly McCall demonstrated
mouth-to-mouth rescue breathing..
then each girl practised the same
in the group work. It was voted
June Williamson be the commen-
tator for the exhibit "Hazards in
the Cupboard at Achievement
Day. The next meeting is set for
the coming Saturday at .Tune
Wiliamson's home. The meeting
closed with the 4-H. Motto "Learn
to do by doing".
The second and third meetings
were combined and hPld at
Searle's trailer at Goderich, where
they hiked through the bush to
;he beach and a Weiner roast was
held. Notes were given by the
leaders on Personal' Care.
The fourth meeting was held at
the home of Kim Humphries on
Monday evening, Sept. 21. It was
opened with the 4-H pledge. It
was decided, to call the club "The
Walton, I Safety Kits'" The girls
were shown bow to do huck-
weaving and were given Material
to put a sample in record books:
First Aid was discussed and we
examined a sample First Aid Kit,
Next meeting to ,be held on. Mon-
day: Mothers, be prepared to receive
your daughters coming home
Walton II Safety Sallys filthy. Brussels has finally ar-
ranged a girls' soccer foam.
In the float, section, Brussels
School Cheerleaders won first
prize.
We hope everyone enjoyed the
day.
We'are happy to say that Mrs.
Walker has returned. after a' •
week's absence.
Unfortunately, last Monday, the
School bus left Without the grade
8 pupila due to the stupidity of
one teacher; (we are not reveal-
ing his' or her name.)
