"FUEL-HARDY" MOTORISTS
CAUSE TRAFFIC TIE-UPS
That sheepish-looking motorist
you see stranded beside his
stationary car on the shoulder of
a Toronto expressway probably
hasn't experienced engine failure,
or even a flat tire.
Chances are he's just out of
gas.
The Ontario Notor League,
Toronto Club, reports that during
the months of March, April, May
and June, motorists stranded
without gas accounted -for about
40 percent of the road service
calls they received from 187 call
boxes installed on. the Grardiner
Expressway and the Dori Valley
Parkway,
That means over 1100 break-
downs which caused traffic tie-
ups and delays were due to just
plain careleSstesS.
Flat tires, which used to be a
major problem, are now, in third
place as a causa of breakdowns,
Second is stalled-out engineS,
which may be due to fuel Mimi"
failure, over-heating or other
Causes.
Be a gauge watcher. Check your
gas 'arid Oil frognently and you
won't he caught Shell,
