Scott, principal of the Brussels Public School, 'welcomed students, parents and ggests to the 1970 Graduation Banquet held in St, John's Anglican Church on Thursday, June 25th. Elliott, president of the Brussels branch of the :Royal Canadian Legion, and Mrs. Elliott; Mr. jellies Armstrong, president, of the Brussels Lions Club, and Mrs, Armstrong; Miss Gwen SmitherSt' Mr, Madill, the Assistant Superin- tendent of SebOols ,for Huron County; Mr. Donald McDonald, member of the "Huron County Board of Education, and Mrs, MODonald were introduced by Mt'. Scott, The graduating students were introduced by Mrs. Adamson, Mrs, Raymond and Mr. Scott and introduced their parents to the gathering, Doug Sinith proposed a. toast to the teachers., replied to by Mrs. Irdiand. Oaterei's for the banquet were thanked musicitily :by tile, students singing "Come Out Dear Ladies" and by Miss Judy LeDrew. Mr. Exel spoke expressing appreeiation for the friendliness of the people and his satisfaction With the educational system, Lloyd Valiance was valedictor- ian of the graduating class. Mr. Ma.dill, as speaker, gave an' address appropriate to the occasion. Smith, lot 22, concession 1L of Grey Township, was com- pletely destroyed by 'fire of un- determined origin at approxim- ately two o'clock Sunday after- noon, The contents of the house, other than a few articles of -furniture, were lost in the blaze, Firemen :from Grey Township, fire department, assisted by the Brussels fire bridgade and the Blyth tanker, were successful in their fight to prevent the spread of the flatnes to the nearby barn, which was in:, imminent danger, and the driving shed. 1S-year-old-soil of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, was the only member of the faininn at 'lame at the time of the fire. Both vehicles overturned.
