DR. 'BRIAN TRAVISS
GRADUATES IN MEDICINE
Dr. Brian Scott Traviss grad,
uated from U.W.O. Faculty of
Medipine, London on May 29th.
He attended Walton Public
School and Settforth District High
School. He will be interning in
'St, Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton,
:Ontario,
Dr. Traviss is married to the
former Wilma Jackson R N., of
Kippen and is the son of Mr, Mid
tiVrs, Ralph Traviss of. Walton.

enjoyed it. On June 11 a play en-
titled "Our Dream House" was
presented by Senior West.Quickies,
piano and vocal solos and musical
choruses made their program
varied sand intereeting.
The sports event of the year,
our annual Field Day, held on
June 12, resulted in the follow-

Mr. and Mrs, Lewis Praire John
Street, Brussels, marked their
50th Wedding Anniversary on
June 9th.
Messages of congratulation and
good wishes were received, from
iMr. Murray Gaunt 111,P.Pe Mr,
Robert L. Stanfield ALP. and Mr.
Robert E. McKinley M.P., also
relatives and friends, Mr. Gaunt
later delivered a framed Scroll to
their home on behalf of Prime
Minister Roberts and ,the Govern,
merit of Outario!
After their marriage Mr. and
Mrs, rrain farmed on the 4th con.
cession of Grey for forty four years
before coming to reside in :Rms.

Clitlton Couple Celebrate
Their 40th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs Harvey Johnston
of 304 Albert. St., Clinton, cele-
brated their 40th wedding anniven
eery on June 7, 1970,
Leila Lawson, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. James Lawson
and 1.-Tarvey Johnston, son of Mr .
and Mrs. Silas johnston were
married in the Walton manse on
Home where they resided until his
Maines.
After their.marriage they lived
in Morris Township until 1954
when Mr. Johnston Was appointed
to a PositiOn at the Huron County
ome where they resided until his
retirement last year.
A. family dinner was held on.
Saturday evening at the Tiger
punlop Inn at which time all the
members of the family were pre-
sent. Then on Sunday afternoon
and evening , open house was held
at their home when many of their
friends and relatives called to
offer their good wishes,
'Mrs. Bert Johnston received the
guests at the door and a grand-
daughter, Charlene Campbell was
in charge of the guest register.
The couples four daughters, Mrs,
Grant AincLean (T-Telen), Mrs.
James Armstrong (Leona), Mrs.
Bernie McKinley (Doris) and hit's.
Dwight Campbell (Joan) waited
on the gtiests. Mrs, .Tames Arm-
strong Sr., Mrs. Pearl McFarlane
and Mre, Seines McDOnald poured
tea with Mrs. Bewley and :eine.

Surprise Gathering
Honors 58th Anniversary
On the 7th of June there was
a surprise gathering of relatives
and friends, prior to the :38111
anniversary of Mr. and Mrs, Wm,
MecDonald Guest were present
from Winnipeg, Toronto, Brant-
ford, Erin, Hanover, Lecknow,
and the surrounding areas, Eivery-
one was given a hearty welcome
and all, enjoyed the re-union.
On. Friday, Seine 12th, other
guests arrived Total number re-

Lewiston. N. Y,, were present for

Lester from Hamilton, Mrs. Elliott

F. Albert Schmidt, a. four year
resident of Brussels, formerly of
Kitchener, passed affray at the
Wing-ham and District Hospital,
at the age of of 74, on Thursday,
June 11th,
The funeral .WilS at the Ratz
Bechtel funeral home, Kitchener,
interment in St. Peter's Lutheran
cemetery, Kitchener
fie is survived by three sons and
five daughters. Two of which live
in Brussels, Mrs. Edna Martin
and Mrs, Victor Hinton.
MRS, MYRTLE McGEE
Mrs, Myrtle McGee passed
away in tire Callander Nursing
Home on Friday, June 5th in her
87th year. Beloved wife of the
late Andrew :McGee, formerly of
Toronto, she was the daughter of
the late Mr, and. Mrs. Robert
Nichol of Morris Township. She
is Survived by one brother, Lorne
Nichol of Morris Township, The
funeral service was held from the
M. L. Watts fueeral home 'on
Tuesday, June 9th, conducted by
a former pastor. Peter Tiauster.
Pallbearers were six nephews.
MRS. EDNA FREEBREE
Mrs. Edna Freebree, widoW of
the late Walter Freehree, eed
former resident of Brussels pessed
away suddenly in Ottawa. on
Thursday, June 4th.
Born in Lincolnshire, England.
Mrs. Freebree came to Canada in
1918. •
She is survived by two daugbt-
ers, Miss Lucy Freebree. Ottawa,
and Mrs, Ralph (Edna) Pearson
of. Brussels: one sister, and three
granddaughters.
Funeral services were held on
the evening of June 5th in Ottawa
and in London, June S. Rev. Allan
Young. Rector of All Saints A.gli-
can Church, London officiated.
Interment was in. Mount Pleasant
cemetery, London.
MRS. J. W. BROWN
Mrs. J. W. Brown of New
Liskeard, the former Gertrude
Shaw. daughter of the late. Mr.
end Mrs. Joseph Shaw. of Morris
Township died in Toronto General
Hospital, 'Thursday, May 2S in her
73rd year. She had been 'in failing
health for some time. Her husband
predeceased her in December
1908.
She is survived by One son,
Dr. Glen Brown of Brampton.:
three grandchildren and one
brother. Mac Shaw of Grey Town-
ship.

Liskeard,

Suddenly, ie the , Brantford
General Hospital, on Thursday,
June '11th, 1970, Marjorie Ward in
her Kith year, wife of the' late
David Shiels, formerly of Graham's
Survey, Bressels. Mother or.
Harold of Brantford; also servived,
by three grandchildren and three
great grandchildt•en.
Mrs. Shiels rested at the Hill
Robinsonrnd Ltd., Funeral Houle,
Nelson and Queen St:, Brantford,
until Monday, June 15th. Service
held in the chapel at 1180 pan.

under the convenership of Mrs.
Sane de Vries and Mrs. Marie
MeTaggart was held in the public
library on Thursday, evening at 8
o'clock, Thirty members and
guests were present to enjoy the
evening's entertainment.
After usual opening exercises
and reports by the eeereteary Mrs.
Marie McCutcheon, the president
Mrs. Alberta. Smith conducted the
business of the %meeting, The
"calories Count Down" forum is
to be held in Clinton on June 17th
at a pen., the Historical Society
picnic is the afternoon of the same
day inbilerich. Mrs. Hazel Math.
eeon is to be our Tweedsamir
Caratoy and the purchasing of
new books was discussed. A cook
book proposition and a bits trip
were also talked about. The draws
on a cushion and crocheted apron
made by Mrs. eicLarty were won
by Mrs Marie McTggart and Mrs.
Wilma Hemingway.
Mrs. MeTaggart then took
charge of the meeting and called
on Gloria and Jane White who
sang two pleasing numbers. They
were accompanied by Miss Anne
Oldfield. The roll call Vas "What
I'd like to do if I had more edu-
cation". This was followed . by a
reading by Mrs. MeTaggart, Miss
Laura. Lucas was called upon to
introduce her guests. Miss Norma
Preslar of Hamilton and Visa Ann
netanick of Port Hope. Mies
Retallick with the aid of a map
outlined their trip to the South
Pacific Islands, New Zealand and
Australia, Miss Preslar then show-
ed many beautiful colored slides
of these countries and told about
many interesting customs of their
inhabitants. Souvenirs and scrap-
books were on display. Every-one
thoroughly enjoyed their imaginary
trip. The ladies were thanked by
Mrs. de Vries and given a small
gift.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Tom
Strachan, Mrs. Carl Ilemitigway,
Mrs. Ernie Martin and Mrs. Lorne
Nich 01.
