The January meeting of the
:Brussels Horticultural Society was
held Monday, January 1,91-b, at
2 p.m. in the Brussels Library,
Mrs. Wilt-, Miller opened the
meeting with 0 Canada: ,followed
by minutes, and roll call. The an-
neal treasurer's report teas read.
The year's receipts :were $1297.93,
the expenditeres $1094.00. The
society worked hard this past year
and we are sorry We bad a de-
crease in memberShin of 12. This
organization is a benefit te the
Community and to its members.
The executive try to make the
meeting informative and interest-
ing. They purchase bulbs, plants,
and shrubs more reasonably and
Pass these on to the members.
Therefore feel the citizens should
take advantage of this and join the
Society. Tn a world of rising costs
the fee still remains at 50c., .loin
your society.
There were 19 members pre-
sent. Pi,reotors and officers will
meet in. February to plan the
Year8 meetings.

his official visit to the Brussels
Lions Club on Monday night:

Lion Ken Scott, led the singsong
with Miss Mary Gibson: at the
piano.

District Governor Henderson who
told of the. Lions Convention in
Tokyo, saying Lionisin is growing
rapidly in JaDall. The work there
is practically the same as here,
helping the poor with food. cloth-
ing etc.. and community better-
ment. T-Te said he would like to see
Brussels Club have a contestant in
the Lions public speaking com-
petitions. New members are need-
ed to spread. Lionisnt. Mr. Hender-
son spoke on the Lions chief pro-
ject "eyesight" and told of the
need for more volunteers for eye
transplants. Lions are trying to
help others. That is their aim.
