U.C.W. Church Meeting
The Jan. U.C.W. meeting was
held in That's Church. on Wednes-
day, ,Tan. 7th, at 2 p,m. The meet-
ing was opened by the Past Presi-
dent. Mrs. Alvin McDonald, with
a poem `treetings for the New
Year". Rev, Docken presided fOt
the installation of officers for the
coming year, followed with the
Singing of Hymn 356, accompanied
The MeKillop Unit leader, Mrs.
Cordon McGavin Opened the devot-
ional period With Hymn 340. Mrs,
11,TeGrivin contributed a solo,
"It is no secret", accompanied by
Mrs, Herb Travisa on the piano.
Offering received by Mrs. G. Mc-
Gavin. Mrs. Campbell Wey gave a
very interesting tqpic. "Recoil-
(*Weldon in a Broken World"; this
study to be used in all Units. Mrs,
Wey stressed that Reconciliation,
is Our business as Christians, it
is not. an easy task but a haavy
one, we Shoed all strive to work
to-gether, helping others. Prayer
was given by Mrs. Neil McGavin
followed by all repeating. "The
Lord's Prayer". Mrs. Cordon ;trio

ing with a New Year's Thought.

members as we carry on our work

by Mrs. Martin Bann for the 17th
and Boundary Unit, by Mrs.
George McCall. for the Sth and
10th Unit and by Mrs. Glen Mc-

The treasurer's report showed
that the past year had been pro-
ductive financially. Reports were
givert about the Onristmas boxes
and their' grateful reception.

programs for, the corning year.
Two members; Mrs. Miller and
Mrs. Hemingway put on a clever
dialogue, entitled, ‘`Take
enjoyed by all and containing
much good advice.

president's benediction closed the
meeting, after which a tasty
lunch, was served by the hostess

Kitchener were visitors with ale,
and Mrs. A. Edwin Martin,
Alfred Knight, who was a hoSt-

Kristin Anne, of Norman, Okla,
have returned home after' spending
the holiday season with her

Joseph Cl)irenee 'Amen. suddenly
Jain. 9th- 1970 in his 72m1 year. He
was the fourth son of the late Wi-
lton and Mary Thuell. Born OP 1.110
001 line of 'Morris. Ile served over-
seas in the war of 101e-18 for over
three years where he was wounded.
On his return he studied to be an
electrician in which capacity lie
worked until semi-retirement. He
was a member of the 'Masonic
order AF & AM for' the past 42
Years, was predeceased by his
brother* Leslie in 1960. •
He is survived by three brotheM
Roy and Fred of Brussels and
William of myth', four sisters,
Mrs. Jittries (Annie) Marshall,
of London; Mrs. Roy (Ella) Sharp,
of Sarnia: Mrs. Norman (E(lna)
Such., Vancouver; and Mrs. Mel-
yille (Margaret) Johnston of
Toronto.
The funeral service wire; held
at 2 p.m. on Monday from St.
,Tolin's Anglican 'Church., The itann

Burial was in Brussels cemetery.

Township Council for the year 1970
was held on January 5th with all
members present,

OFFICERS 'HONORED
A pleasant occasion took plene
al the Ethel' C.ommunity Centre on
Saturday, January 10th, when the
members of the 'Grey Township
Council, officials, grader operators
their wives and guests partook of

Ethel Women's Institute.
An 'interesting feature of the
day was when Mr, Wilbur E.
Turnbull and Mr. George Weeem
berg. were honored and presented
with gifts of hand-carved book-ends
as art expression of appreciation
for many years service to the •

monly known as "Wib" is retiring
after serving as Tax Collector for
the past forty years. He also serv-
ed as a Councillor during the years
1.924 and 1920, Mr. Wesenberg held
the position of township Assessor •
ror eighteen years until the take-
over of assessment by the County.
Mr. Turnbull and Mr. Wesen-
berg, though both taken by sort
prise. expressed their thanks for.
