A very enjoyable evening was
spent in the Rebekah - Lodge
1:700111S in Wingleen on Saturday
night when a surprise party for
Miss Mildred Stewart was given
by the 3rd line of Morris old
neighbours and friends, Also
relatives and friends from Sarnia,
'foronte, SealCorth, Myth, I3ruls-
sets, •Goderich; Lucknow, and
Winghain,
An address was read by 'Win,
Earman, (lifts were presented by
Miss Edith Warwick, Miss Elva
Warwick and Mrs, Russell Bone,
a lovely pole lamp, electric clock
and Mectric tea kettle.
Miss Stewart thanked the folks
for their lovely gifts*and pleasant
evening and a very delirious lunch
was served.

daughter, Mr, and Mrs. Norman

Couple's Honored By Community
On Friday a Social evening WaS
spent in the Community Centre
when Mrs. IIarold cklin and
Mr, and Mrs. Harry Jacklin were
the guests of honour. Progressive
euchre was enjoyed, Mrs. ,Tack--
lin, Harry and Mary Ellen Were
get-togethed of one of the , Roy
Knight read an address and the
following gifts were presented: to
Mrs. Jacklin, a planter, TV tables
and a lace tablecloth, and to
Harry and Mary Ellen lawn ehairs
and a crystal bowl. :qrs. Jacklin
Sr, and Harry expressed their
thanks to all who contribitted to
the enjoyable get-together. All
joined in singing "For they are
jolly good fellows" and lunch was
served, Mrs. Harold Jacklin has
taken. up residence in. Brussels and
Mr, and Mrs. Harry ;Malin Moved
to Atwood, having sold their
farm.

BRUSSELS WATER
SERVICE EXTENDED
The village is busy extending
water service in the seetiOn of the
village where several new homes
are being constructed. It includes
two bloeks on James, one block on
Edon and Seine on Maple street.
This will provide fire protection
and water for homes in the area
that have only temporary acconto-
dation, as well as for the ones
under eonstruction,

A quiet seven o'clock evening
wedding wn.S solemnized by the

Bolted Church. Seaforth, when
Doreen M. Stephenson became
the bride of Lorne it, Dale. Both
are residents of Brussels.
M. and Mrs, Glen Bone of Brus
sets attended the couple.
Prior to her marriage the bride:
Was entertained at the borne of
Mr, and Mrs. Gordon. Stephenson
when friends and relatives gath-
ered to extend their good wishes
and Presented her with a purse of
money and gifts. The evening
was enjoyably spent in playing
cards.
The staff of the New American
Hotel, of which the bride is a
member, presented her with a
Chaise lounge and lawn chair.

Melville Guild met at the
church Tuesday, June 17th.
Joan Exel opened the meeting
with a :poem `1Tinie". This was
lowed by a hymn. Jean Stiles led
in praayer, Scripture, Psalm 39
was read in unison, The topic:
"Fault Finding" was given by
Isabel Adams,
The meeting closed by singing
a hymn and repeating the Mizpuh
benediction;
;Teen Stiles conducted the bus-
iness part of the meeting,
A delicious lunch was served by
Joan Exel, Isabel Adams, and
jean Stiles,

LIBERAL MEETING
Huron Liberals crowded Sea-
forth Legion 1011 Thursday even-
ing to hear Hon. Donald S.
Macdonald, president of the
Queen's Privy Connell and gov-
erment leader in the Commons.
The Meeting was preceded by a
reception and dinner attended by
180 members across the riding.
Mr. Macdonald discussed a.cti-
vities of the government in tini
year which has elapsed since the
election.
Mr. Macdonald was introduced
by A, Y. McLean of Seaforth and
appreciation was expressed by
Mrs, A. M. Harper of Goderich.-
Gordon MeGavin was chairman
for the dinner ,andmeeting. Others

HONORED BY FRIENDS
Miss Joyce Rellington, bride-
elect was honored en Wednesday,
June 11th, when a large number
of friends gathered in the United
Church school room to shower her
with numerons miscellaneous
lovely and useful gifts.
The room was tastefully decor-
ated for the occasion with white
bells and streamers over the
bride's chair
