thirsty band of fellows, our volunteers,
was a conspicuous mark upon the streets.
-Many an angler shouldered his rod
and sought at the retreat of the finny
denizens of the Maitland, -in some in-
stances with good results.
-The afternoon and evening excur-
sions by the "Josephine Kidd" were nut
very largely attended; but those who
took advantage of the trips greatly en-
joyed thein.
-In the afternoon P. S. Inspector
Miller entertained the Presbyterian
Bible clams, if which he is leader, to a
garden party, on his grounds. The
young people spent a most enjoyable
time, engaging in croquet, ring -around,
and other like amusements.
-Un the arrival of the ten o'clock
train, a couple of lads who had been to
the Clinton celebration were found to be
so pitiously drtmk that they had to be
carried out of the couch by some of their
friends. The boys could not be more
than ten or twelve years old, arid their
miserable condition was indeed to be
deplored. Could the relatives of the'
foolish young fellows possibly tied uut
whore the liquor wus.ebtained by them,

Large numbers of outsiders were present
from all purtsofthe.country,and universal
satisfaction was expressed at the man-
ner in which the entire programme was
carried. out. The town band paraded
