issue of the Canadian_ Medical

Over SO percent of the poison.-
legs reported in 1964 were in
children under 5 years of age.
Aspirin products alone were r e,-
sponsible for e9 percent of all
poisonings in children of this age,
The Journal commented that al-
though the poisonings are usually
described as an. accident, the
"accident' is the result of adults
allowing the drug to be available
The reduction of this type of
poisoning can only be achieved
by it long range educational pro-
gramme designed to sharpen the
safety conscience of adults,
The Committee made several
rocommendatiOns which they felt
would help reduce the incideece
of aspirin poisoning.
