exclusive of travelling time, dur-
ing July or August, in a province
or territory other than the one

travel. usually by train, tn groups

Each unit consists of 12 girls,
12 boys, and two escorts. At
,their destination they are
lited in private homes, and are
the guests of the province and
the community roe the week.
Each province or territory agrees
to receive the same number of
groups that it sends to ether
provinces.
There are tire charges to the
particthants for any part of the
program.
The program began as a pilot'
projeet in..1964 when 936 students
participated. This year there will
he 4800, The selection of students
is made by the Provincial Depart-
ments of Edtication working
throlgh the distil,ct inspectors
and the principals of the Second-
ary schools. Students must be at
least fifteen, enrolled in, grade
XI or X1T and be worthy re-
preseritatines of their school and
province.
