GENTLEMENS CLUB NEWS ITEMS I start my column this week With a VeStion to Morris Twp. Council, Viz, why didn't you cut down the hill on the sixth line of Morris instead of spending hund- reds of dollars on sideroads that are used by one or two families. only? Now for my weekly write up. Leaving Brussels going north 1 ask you to turn left at the first concession. Proceed on down over the railroad tracks past the farm and buliaings on the right. and you will see a road running north, It looks like the Indiana- polis speedway or the salt roads in 'Utah, it is not paved as yet but another year or so doesn't. matter. Years ago this road was kilAmue as Anderson's sideroad or Barr s 0.deroad; it Was better known as lovers lane and was a sek sanct- uary. 'Old Grit and old Tory, two of Anderson's livery horses, on a Sunday night 'would always :head, directly' there, When cars came into fashion" tile' 49(1 and the,- Ford T model, they always ran out of gas in the middle of. his; sideroad. Later and up uutii new: it has been nectar for neckerS. bully for booze parties, and a range for chicken thieves, safety for rabbits; foxes and all Manner of small game. It was a spring road years ago. When pitch holes got real bad on the graver the 3rd liners Wend break it and go to Brussels this way. Maybe our council thinks these days will return, Either that ur they don't think at all, which, is more I would suggest gentletien you complete the job. Either build an underpass for the railway or put in a. wig-wag sYsterri: True there are only Nur trains a, day .a.nd this IS four times greater than the highway traffiC. Yes, there are more cars oh the sixth line in one day than, there are ott AnclerSOns'S Side gad lri One year. That is from sun up till sail duvvn. Why not put in a swimming pool? You already have the water. A young chap then wouldn't be embarrased, he could say he had been MI' a swim if he was caught 'with his coat off, Brussels will soon, he taking- down their cen- tennial decorations, why not get these and string across, put in a powder room. Many a lady has returned from this sideroad with, a shiny nose and a red face. Truthfully. Yours, T. K. F. S. Grit was by all means the hest horse. LISTOWEL DRIVE-IN THEATRE Thurs., Fri., Sat.
