AT GODERICH, JULY 2nd A Drumhead Service of praise and thanksgiving will be held in, Goderich for the people of Huron County on Sunday, July 2nd, at 3.30 in Court House Park, The arrangements are being made by a committee representative of the Uoderich Ministerial Assoc" lation. the Royal Canadian Legion, Goderich Centennial Committee, Council of the County of Huron and Goderich Town Council. The special speaker will be the. Rev. Harold J. Snell, Minister of Riverside United Church, London, Ontario, a former residen of Ex, eter, The Reverend J. tire Stewart of Seaforth, a long-time resident of Huron, will, also participate along with members of the Goder- ich Ministerial Association. Messrs. Murray Gaunt, M. L. A., Robert B. McKinley, M. P., the Honorable Charles McNaughton, Treasnrer of Ontario, Mr. Donald McKenzie, Warden of Huron County, Dr. G. Frank Mills, Mayor of 1Goderich, and other dignitaries are expected to attend. About three hundred members of Zone 0, - 1 of the Royal Can- adian Legion, under the Command of Zone Commander .alien Nichol son of Egniondville will be on parade. Girl Gaides and Boy scouts of Huron County under the direction of their CoramiS stoners, Miss Mary McMillan and respectively, will also parade. Music 'will be provided by the Massed Pipe Band of Zone 0 - 1 of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Western. Ontario Youth Band of the Salvation Army direCted by Major William' Kerr of London; the Youth Choir of the. Salvation Army, also directed by Major. Kerr, and the Coderich Treble Singers directed by Mrs. Murray Hetherington. During the Service, Gold Cord. and Queen Scout Awarda will be presented to a number of the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts of Huron county. REPORT FROM QUEEN'S PARK MURRAY GAUNT, M.P.I3 (HURON-BRUCE) The Degislature this week approved the last of the Govern- ment's 0,8402(32,000 in spend- ing estimates. The Lands and Forests Depart- ment has completed studies to- ward determipiug who owns Ontario's Gireat Lakes Beaches., The Department is now identify- ing the township lots and con- cessions that are to be examined in determining ownership. Following determination of this information the depwthiem records including patent and survey records, will have to be examined to determine whether the beaches are now public or private. Oxide this is done the depart, meut will be able to determine the extent of priVate rights in- volved. Only then would it be pwsibie to decide whether the best method of acquiring priVate rights would be by purchasing,' expropriation or by legislation. The Provincial Government hay backed away from letting the University Western Ontario become the 'first North American, University to have a student on its board of governors, Education Minister Wm. Davis said he will amend the Univer- sity's private legislation by elitn- hutting the proviSion for a gover- nor elected by the students.
