Mr. Cox thinks that record hard to beat; and so do we. SHORT HORN BCLL. — Messrs. J. M. & H. Cook, of the 7th con., Goderich Township, have purchased a splendid shorthorn bull from Mr. G. Thomson, of Alton, Co. of Peel. We may look for an improvement in the cattle in this section, if "Crown Prince" is patron- ized by our local breeders. Mr. H. Cook has also purchased a fine brood mare, by Mr. Joseph Fisher's "Simon Pure," from Mr. Nicholas Stanley, for $150. The Meters. Cook are amongst our most enterprising stock breeders, and we trust their energy will befittingly rewarded. The regular quarterly examination of the school was held on Friday, 26th March. The teacher, Mr. Higgins con - du -...ted the examination, and was assisted by Miss Hamilton of No. 8, and W. S. Lawrence of the Union, Goderich Town - .h.• , and the result showed a thorough knowledge of the different subjects us- ually taught in our public schools.
