ASSOCIATION SHORT OF OBJECTIVE it has nothing to do with ' ploughing, but a rather startling statistic came out of the Inter- national Ploughing Match held. near Seaforth last October. The Perth and Huron County Tuberculosis Associations had a mobile x-ray unit there and offer- ed a free chest x-ray to anyone who asked for it, A total of 772 people took advantage of the free aervice. This was the startling result: Mien the medical specialists collinieted their examihat- aitentfon. ion of the ic-rays, they found that 4.5 of the 772 had chest ditions that Made further med. ical exitrirm'afion advisable', 'rhe 45 persons were so informed. Of the 45 having abnormal chest: coif- ditions, two were described aff having "urgent need's of medical' a tenti on. The fact that 45 had chest con- ditions that warranted further medical examinations does not mean that they were ail sliffer" ing from tuberculosis. The repOri does mean that those- 45 claesisi did riot look like normal ones. These 45 people might have tuber- culosis conditions or other lung diseases or they may indeed have no present illness. The 1.-Tmon County Tuberculosis Association carries on a continu- airs effort to find out who these people are, in order that they may be given help. The Huron Association Is spend- ing at the rate of 113,000 per year, Right now only T11,593.30 has been subscribed. We, believe the people of Huron want the Assoc- iation to press on with its work of education and chest clinics. The hard fact is that the pace of the work can be maintained only if the public gives the m on- 'S, Gifts may be forwarded to Mrs. D. C. Cornish, Secretary, 'lox 234. Seaforth. W. D. H. 5.
