The October meeting of the

MUD AND RAIN HAMPER
INT. PLOWING MATCH
In spite or rain that has fallen
datly, streams of ears have
Passed through here from the
north on their way to the Inter-
national Plowing Match near
Seaforth.
The rains have turned the
Scott Farms, Scene of the match,
into a sea of mud. Shortly after
the match opened on Tuesday
directors of the Ontario Plow-
men's Association announced that
the n$atch would be continued on
to Saturday.
Many local residents have not
enjoyed skating in the mud, but
still enthusiasm draws people to
this international event.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP
SCHOOL BOARD
The regular meeting of Morris
Township School Area Board
was held in Brussels School Oct-
ober 5th. John Stewart absent.
The minutes or the September
meeting were approved on motion
of C. 'Haines and p. Gowing,
Motion C. Gowing and B. Elliott
that a bonus of $100 be paid to
each teacher completing a summer
course.
Motion Elliott and Haines that
supply teachers be paid at the
rate of $18.00 per day.
Motion Elliott and Gowing that
pupils be allowed one day to
.attend the Ploughing Match.
Motion Elliott and Haines
that pupils in Morris Township
will be picked up when buses are
in operation, at the point of the
residental farm lot nearest to the
bus route.
Motion Gowing and Elliott,
that contracts for school buses in
Morris Township be awarded as
follows:
Route 2 to Belgrave School,
prank Elliott for $4900.
Ralph Pearson for $5000.
Route 6 to Brussels
School
Route 7 to -Brussels School
Glen Smith for $4243.
Route S to Blyth School
R. D. McClinchey for 4500.
In each case an additional
twenty cents per mile will be
paid for any increase in mileage
to be added to any route.

Village Council was held in the
Municipal Office on 'October 3rd,
all members being present.
The following motions Were

minutes of the meetings of Sept,
ember the 13th and 9th be adoptod
as read.

Reeve proclaim November 11th,
1906 a Public Holiday.

County Regional -Library Boord„
Mr, Clifford Cardiff, the Village
Assessor presented the 1967 AsSe-
ment Roll. The total assessment
of $741-550.00 is a slight increase
from, last year. with two more .
PrOperties to be assessed before
the end of the year. The con-
stantly fluctuating population is
846, down four from last Year."
