I would like to refute several of the statements made regarding the Brussels Lions Club. Regarding the Amateur Con test, it was not held as a money making project, and it certainly did not turn out to be such with the net proceeds only $28.99, as shown in a financial statement on Page one of the same issue of the Post, The competitors paid the same admission as everyone else which took the place of an entry fee. The Lions support their own community whenever pos- sible, and you will see in the same ftnancial statement that the plaques given as prizes were purchaeed from our local jewelley store. We have never had a more worthwhile project, as the Lions Club .members had many favour- able conements from local parents of the valuable experience gained by their children by competing in the amateur night. The article implied, that the 20th Anniversary banquet was financed from club funds which Was a false accusation, as' the tickets cost, $5.00 a couple, This evening was a real milestone in the history of the Brussels Lions Club, and instead of trying to rid the town of some of its best citizens as you suggest, I think they should be praised for the' time and money they have put into the many worthwhile Lions projects in this community for :the past 20 years. In future would suggest best interests of the community at heart. Signed, W. ,Tames Armstrong, Secretary, Brussels Lions -Club Dear What has .happened to T.K.F., the mari who has brought amuse merit to eo many?: His derogatory remarks. made M. last week's issue of the Post, about the Brussels Lions Olteb, a group of men who dedicate effort and money, to the service of others in the prevention of blindness, aid to the blind, crip- pled children, and other unfor- tunates, MO to community betterment, all to a greater ex' tent than most people are, aware, were in extreme bad taste and. completely unwarranted.
