Last Saturday evening I Put On
a floor show after a wedding in,
kfaldimand County. At one time
this was very popular, I have had
as many as eight or ten engage-
month in ,a year for weddings
and at one time professional acts:
were, in demand for wedding
anniversaries.
Tt was a formal wattling. The
groom looked lovely in a pair of
striped trousers which came down
to Within an inch or so of his
shoe tops. He had on a pair a
white sox, well, one was white
the other a tattle tale grey. Dif-
ferent kind of detergents, that
his mother had been testing no
doubt. When. he sat down you.
could see about four inches of
sox and then three Inches of bare
skin. lie 'wore a coat, to match.
He also had on a white shirti
and collar with Boa tie. The tie
have it right on the end or the
beek. After a dozen or so I could
see they were taking effect. A
sobering effect that is. The old
man was rubbing his nose which.
by now was swollen up like. Jim-
my Durante's.
Well, I could see the minister
was bored and the crowd wanted
him away so they could cut loose,
around the punch bowl. 1 gave
him his envelope with a twenty-
dollar bill in it, which was
little enough for performing a
wedding ceremony and having
to say grace as well.
For travelling the groom. wore
the same suit, but he did have
an extra pair of Bermuda shorts,
He also carried two potties of gin,,
a tooth brush and 3 packs of
them there man made cigarettes,
.1 have forgotten the brand but
you can Watch the TV commercial.
It says they are smoKed oy men
wro get what they want.
The young man in this case gets
it alright, but not what he Wants.
He gets a life Sentence, with 54
halter round his neck and a ball
and chain on his ankle.
Bye for now, next week a reply
to my goOd friend, and our reeve,
regards the unsigned letter which,
appeared in the Pest some time

WHAT ARE FARMER'S COSTS
IN CANADA PENSION PLAN?
If a farmer subtracts' 8600 from
his net income and multiplies the:
remainder by 3.6%, he'll find
what he pays into the Canada
!Pension Plan, according to On-
tario Department of Agriculture
Farm Management Specialist
Donald McArthur.
"Any farm operator with a net
income of 4800 or more must con-
tribute", he add. "For instance,
if a man's net income is $3,000,
these. would be his calculations:
$3,000 - $600 equals $2,400; $2,400
x, 3.610 equals 886.40. Therefore
he would pay $86.40 to the Pension
Plan annually.
If any fanner's contribution is
more titan $40, he is required to
pay two thirds of it to the Depart-
ment of National 'Revenue by
December 31st and the balance by
April 30th of the following year.
Mr. McArthur 'asserts that this is
not income tax, nor is to be con-
fused. with Old Age Pension, It
enforced savings. There is also
income maximum of $5,000 on '
Pension Plan contributions. Thus
the person with a $5,000 income
will. malo the same contribution
and receive the sa.ime benefits as
a man with a $15,000 one.
If farm, employees earn. more
than $600 annually, then they
Must also contribute. In such cir-
cunistances, the, employer pays
half of the contribiltion. For ex-
aniple, if it farm laborer earns
$3,000, including room and board,
then he and the farmer he works
for must each contribute $43.20.
installments must be deducted
from each pay and paid by the
15th of the following Month to
the Department of National,
Revenue. After the first instal-
lment for each employee, the
Deparment of National Revenue
will send the employer a form so
-that future contributions may be
paid at bank. Before dedUctions
can be made, however, the em-
ployee must have worked twenty-,
five days for the same employer
and have earned ;260, Anyone
who has invested in the Penshm
.Plan for ten years and over will
:receive the total pension which
is approximately 25 per cent of
his average annual earnings over
that period. If the pensioner is
'betweep. sixity-five and seventy
years of age and is earning more
than $900 per year, he will re-
,ceiare only a portion of this pen-
sion, The, same applies to people
who have been contributing to the
plue for less than ten years. Mr.
McArthur notes that, while the
Plan. is • riot only worthwhile for
:future senior citizens, it also
benefits widows, orphans, and
,(tisabled persons.
