Huron-Bruce) To date Ontario. Medical Ser- vices Insurance Plan has receiv- ed about 150,000 applications covering about 400,000 persons. Presently, applications are com- ing in at the rate of 12,000 per day. Another 300,000 persons who are receiving aid under various Welfare plans were automaticaly enrolled for Health Insurance coverage under OMSIP on April 1. The open enrolment period for the general' public, which began a.t the beginning of April, closes May 1. Those enrolling after May 1, must wait three months for coverage. This week the Minister o Agriculture, ;William Stewart, announced the government will guarantee $1,000 interest tree loans to help buy seed and fer- tilizer for fanners -whose crops were destroyed last year by adverse weather. The loans will be available to any farmer in the CANADIAN NATIONAL province who lost 25% or more I of his crop last year. These loans will be good for a 15 month, period. The govern- i. ment will arrange for the loans to be made available through ,chairtered, banks.( Applications for the loans WM be available from banks or the local Agri- cultural Representative. After May 2nd, farmers will be re- quired to present an affidavit de- claring that the money will be used to buy seed and fertilizer and that it is needed because of crop losses caused by adverse weather.
