THE KEY WORD
The word is advertising
and directors of the 1963 inter-
national Plowing Match know
success of their annual event, to
be held at Seatorth Oct 11 to 14,
will fail on this one item.
It is for this reason that the
,directors and commi,ttee chair-
men met at Seafortb. Friday night
to plan an, advertising barrage
of the communications media.
Posters, stickers, streamers,
will supplement radio, television
and newspaper advertising.
The,match will be publicized
on a federal and provincial basis
and will have the support of the
Ontario department of tourism
and information.
.A budget of $15,500 has been
allocated of 'which. $2,500 has been
spent, Norman Barber of Owen
Sound president of the Ontario.
Plowmen's Aissocation. said.
The land of ten farmers has
been leased. Some 140 acres will
be used for parking and another
230 for plowing. The match will
be centred on the Scott Farms,
in McKillop Township, near Sear
forth.
About 100 acres will be used
" to aecomodate 200 exhibitors.
Besides the plowing competition,
the festivities include cooking
contests, produce displays, live-
stock exhibitions, a mechancial
and farming equipment show, a
display of steam engines, pipe
bands, a parade and the' final
banquet, Oct. 14th.
More than 100,000 persons are
expected to attend. The traffic
committee estimates they will
be able-to handle about 200 cars
an hour.
