The debate on tile medicare
continued this week. I narticinkt-
I ed in the debate by asking that
i chiropractors and optometrists as
well as other paramedical group's

On Wednesday the budget
came down outlining what might

in taxes affecting everyone In

The main changes are 1. In-
crease to 6 percent from 3 percent
of the retail Sales tax. The esti-
mated yield will be roughly
153,000,000.
2. Tobacco tax will me increased
by 1 cent on a package of , 20.

3. Liquor prices will also increase.
4. 5 percent tax placed on tele-
grams and long distance tele-
phone calls. 5. Gasoline tax will
be increased by 1 cent to 16 cents
a gallon and highway diesel ftiel

for their country at 18 but do not

years' ago." he said.

childless couples will he $120. a
year and for individuals $60.00 a
year.
The province will cover welfare
recipients' free and subsidize pre
rniums for low-income groups.
The Bill is now before the House

The throne debate opened up
with Mr, Thpmpson, Leader of the
Opposition delivering a 130 min-
ute speech on the government
weaknesses in the areas of edu-
cation, health, agriculture and
municipal affairs.
This week will see the Throne
speech debate continued with th6
possibility of budget being brought
down.
