While preparing for the big
trial, Terry .Alason asked me a
great. many Questions. NOW. he
says, in terms of dollars and cents
how much uo you consider your-
sell worth to the public. I 4.14
much too modest, so I quoted a,
Ligure much too low, 500 million
golden guineas. I knew by the
'runny .10°4 on Terry's face 1 nad
greatly underestimated ihyself.
'The phone rang and when be
came back he says, that was
Paul Drake reporting. He. says
Zanzibuin is a terrible place. The
natives are primitive, heathen,
barbarians. They live on insects,
reptiles, alligators, etc. The only
decent meal they get is when a
United Church missionary nap-
pens along. The mosquitos are so
thick they darken the sun and
every one carrying- malaria. Now
on the other hand Rhodesia is
very beautful and all EiligliSh. 1.

it is a well known tact that when
in Ontario, a Tory breaks ate law
he runs to ins local :member of

it's a little different. Down there
you go to jail, then your lawyer
goes to the proper men in politics.
They get -the prison guardsto sup-
ply you with hack saw blades,
rope ladders, guns and a taxi. it
costs quite a bit more to get off
on a narcotic or inu.rder charge in
Quebec. Well, i says to myself,
nu foreigner is going to run down
Cana.diaus, especially our Quebec.
Liberals. i got angry. My hair
raised so high it knocked my hat
off.
I says to this Yankee, yes, Mr.
Mason, you have a, better idea
iu the States. Over there, all you
have to do is join the Klu Klux
likin and get off for nothing.
This jarred him a bit but lie says,
it's ridiculous the way you gov. I.
ern your country. You keep &
man in. power for maybe twenty
years. When he is worn out both
mental' and. physically you put
him in the senate 'till he dies of
old age, at 4.2000 a year. I came
rig= oast;., 1 says, yes, Mr. Mason
I agree your system is the best,
shoot them off when they are
young. Tins made Win blink but
he continued, look how you treat
your Eskimos in. the north, starve
theta and, freeze them to death. I
says, 1 would rather he an
Eskimo and starve to death iu
the north than be a Negro and
burn a the stake in the soutu.
This bloodied his nose for him
but he carried on. he says, com-
pare your cities. Look at New
York, over nine and one half
minion people. The Great White
Way with its billions or orignt
ugh is that flicker and flutter and
turn the nights into days. 1 says,
Mason, during the long, long
black out, there wasn't a light
that flittered and fluttered, they
merely flickered out. Ion. people
groped around like ground moles.
ion didn't even have a candle.
This staggered him so I Quick
followed up with a, left hook. I
says yes 0 and a half million
people in the dark. There A,Nrotild
have been. maybe ten million if
so many hadn't chocked to death
in the summer for want. of a drink
of water. Ha, ha, I said to my-
self, that rattled his teeth. lie
says, Look at our beautitud,wo-
men. Elizabeth Taylor, Jane.
Alensfield and hi" named over a
great many more. He says, what
beauty, what charm. I says, yes
and what I like, they scatter it
around. .They, divide it among
eight or ten ox twelve, accord-
ing to the number of divorces

window for air. He says. look at
that snow (about a foot blow-
ing around). Why don't you move
to a better climate? I says, where.
would I go? To ,Oswego, where
you have one hundred and twelve
inches. Why the people nearly all
suffocated there. Those who
didn't had to climb up and crawl
out the chimney. Or would you
have me go to Ohio where the
water is so high its running in
the chimneys cutting off all
means of escape. He says, look at
our scientist,s. Do you know that
in a year we will send one hundr-
ed marines to the moon.. Yes, and
what will those one hundred mar-
ines find when they arrive on the
moon? I hollers, two hundred
Russian soldiers. This finished
him off. He then made the nicest
speech. Shut up and g poux us

I must shut up right now until

about the trial that never took
place. So bye bye for now.
