LETTER To THE EDITOR
I am., very deeP1Y eencerned
about our village of Brussels, It
has been said, published and
Minted on the eigns entering
our village that we have "The
Prettiest Village In Ontario",
'This is all very well, but is
it true, :When entering from the.
West you see the sign, Brussels,
and so on, next is a place of old
broken down machinery and
junk, From there in it is as the
sign says, Coining from the North,
the sign, then as you look around
you see a field of old cars out
back, as you go along you see
a high board fence biding scrap
and so on, and on a bit farther
another field of old cars, From
there on in as the sign says.
Comning from the East, an old
broken down house, and then
again the sign says - -, Coming
from the South, out a piece, at
the cemetery, a new building.
don't think it was built big en-
ough to handle our dying organ-
izations. Then the sign again.
plus radar in operation. When?
Not enough. The sign also says
"We love our children. Drive
Slow." Hu! ' Hu! Driving ml.
down it is an attractive little
village. Are these signs true?

village. Fair but not good,

says, and quote "The kids ar-
ound Brussels are playing hockey
on the streets. The only way
they can, get into the rink is to
join the wealthy curlers," Well,
I don't know, but I think they
are organized better than any-
thing else in town. Could the Rec-
reation Committee, the Lions, or
the Legion put up a Bulletin
Board at our Bank •Corner and
have a standing weekly schedule
painted on it of the coming events
plus where you could write on it
with chalk and also post signs and
posters etc? Then everyone would
know what is what. Tuesday and
Wednesday is curling, but the
rest, nobody knows, The Lions
were out collecting for our Arena
fund again. Why? The doors were
shut all. summer long except for
badminton, when they could also
have bad roller skating, a new
car showing, bingo and a few
g,ames of chance, and so on, to
help raise money instead of
leavine' it until the doors open for
another winter. of what? T have
heard some people grumbling
because of this canvass. and many
are confused, and are not going to
donate to this fund. if their kids
are going to be able to use the
Ant- only once or twice a weele
Yet, if they need the money. they
are not confused, So I think if
