The paltry points we were behind doesn't Mean a. thing. We now have one win each, I would like to mention the great benefit these games have been to the Legion. When we started playing some years ago, the Legion boys were a sort of cantankerous, uncultured, un- polished aggregation, but now, after rubbing shoulders on SO many occasions with us gentle- men there has been considerable improvement, in their character. If enough games are held they may even be eligible to become one of us and he as intelligent and highly respected as we are. Of course there will always he some who could never qualify, Al Logan, Len Lamont, Sam Work- man, Ray Bronson, Rus. Hall, T3 id Bell, George Backer, Ross Duncan, Louis Ebel. Ted Elliott, Bev. Riley, Ivan Campbell, Orrie Elliott, Verne Grenke. Jack Mc- Whirler. Cal Kranter, Wif War- wick.. Miller •McArter, Archie Willis, Pete Cardiff, and quite a few others. After all, even we cannot make a silk purse out of a pigs car. None of the members from Walton, our southern sub- urb. are able to qualify as yet but some of our polish Is getting on their shoulders and some day, who knows. Had our mentality not been higher than that of the Legion this sort of thing could have been reversed. We could have become a cantankerous, un- cultured aggregation. I was quite disappointed the day after the game to 'hear one of our execu- tive members, Wiz Roy Turvey, use the word "demmitr. Of course he had been euchred with four trump. He apologized immed- iately, hut it's a strange co- incidence, the day after a right at the Legion, one of our memb- ers woctild unleaeh such a barrage of temper and use a word mighty close to profanity, Our next game will be.
