Painful burns and even more tragic nccidents have. occurred because children car- ried candle-lighted pumpkins and wore films.' costumes that were easily ignited. To prevent such occurrences this year,. Hal Wri- ght, Farm Safety Specialist, Ont- ario Department of Agrieulture, suggests these rules for a Hal- loween of tricks or treats, in- stead of tragedy . Use a flashlight, never a candle, to light a pumpkin. Candi , es are hazardous indoors, too. 2. Stay away from flimsy ma- terials for costumes. Wigs and masks are also flammable. If costumes are pnrchased, make sure they are flanteproofed, but even heavy clothing and flame- proofed costumes will burn to some extent. 4.
