Mrs, 1'Jla. Shurrie, who was a
life-long resident of the Brussels •
community, died on 'I7'neday, In
St„ Many's Hospital, Elitchener.
Shr, was in her 67th year,
The former Ella Ray Rands,
she was the daughter' of the late
Mr. and Mrs. William Rands. Her
-husband, McKenzie Shurrie,
predeceased her about ten years
ago. An active worker in the
East Huron Agricultual Society,
the Majestic Women's Institute,
and the Brussels Horticultural
Society, of which she was see-
retary,treasurer, she had a wide
circle of friends and acquaint,
ances among whom she will be
greatly missed.

Back At Their 'Desks
It was back,.,•re • school for
teachers and pupils on Tuesday
morning. The smiling faces and
eager footsteps of the majority
of the youngsters did sot sug-
gest. that they were too reluctant
to return to their • classrooms
after the long summer vacation.

Served By Six Buses
The new Grey Township
Central School,. situated on
the southern outskirts of 'the
village- of Ethel, opened it's doors
on Tuesday morning to receive-
an enrolment of 3tr7 students with
more expected. There are nine
teachers on the staff with- James
Axtumn the principal.
The modern, well equipped
school has nine' classrooms,
auditorium, principal's office,
and utility room. Six, sixty-
passenger . buses . provide trans-
portation for. the 'children of the,
wide. • area served:. by the new
School.

Mr. and Mrs. James Riley of
RR 2, Brussels were honoured by
surprise party on August 30th
on the occasion of their 35th wed-
ding anniversary.

On. Sunday. Sept. 5th, 1906, Mr.
and Mrs. James McDonald were
honored on the occasion of their
-10th weeding anniversary, at the
home of their daughter, Mrs.
Murray Huether, of Brussels.
The couple have a family of
three,. Mrs. Murray (Mary).
Huether of Brussels, Mr. Ken and
Mr. Don McDonald, both of
Walton vicinity, and thirteen
grandchildren.
The dining room, was prettily
decorated, with, the taole being
centred With 4 lovely two-tiered
bridal cake trimmed with ruby
red, and a boquet of ruby-red and
white dahlias.
At 4:30 p.m. the honoured
couple, their families, and Mn..
Grace McCuaig, Seaforth,, who
only last week celebrated her
S3rd birthday, and who is the
only surviving sister of Mr. Mc-
Donald, and Mr. ana Mrs. John
McDonald of Grey Township, Mr..
John McDonald being the only
surviving brother of Mr. Mc-
Donald. sat down to a lovely
chic:Ron dinner 'which everyone
enloyed,
In the evening from 7:00 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Huether held open
house when, approximately 11.0
friends and relatives called to
wish the honored couple many
more years of happily wedded
life, and to enjoy a social chat.
Little Joan Huether met the
guests at the door and invited
them to sign the guest book.
Althought the, couple had re-
quested no gifts they received a
lovely mirror from their neigh-
hours on the 16th •of Grey and
Sib of Morris, a camera, door
chimes ,boudoir lamps, candy,
hPftuttful dishes etc.
A tasty lunch including the,
1-Ide's cake was served.

Sea Forth. Listowel, Atwood, God-
