Comrade Thuell has held a life membership in the branch for a number of years and assist- ed in the ribbon cutting cere- mony. The first president .was ?red Biurchell, followed by W+111aut Stiles who held the post for seven years. In March 1961 a building fund was established and the interest of the members was raised at this time for a new hall, as the quaters in the old hall were too confined to allow for any money making adventures. At the general meeting of December 1961 it was passed that a new hall he built. As the former town hail site was now vacant, It was decided to approach the Village Council to see if it was possible to pur- chase this site. At the next council meeting this was done and the lot was donated to the branch for the sums of $1.00 with a Stipulation that an auditorium be placed- in the building for rent- al to local organizations for meetings, dances etc. Excavation: was Regan and footings poured in November 1963, but due to the winter clos- ing in, no more work was done until the spring of 1964. The new building was occupied 'in Feb- ruary 1965. The spring grains, beans and corn in particular are show- ing improved growth. The large percentage of the hay crops' , have been stored, while the crops are slightly be- low average in yield, the quali- ty is excellent: The pea harvest is in full swing and yields to date have been very favourable.
