Even in its literal sense it, Is often Ignor- ed. According to Red Cross drown., ing statistioe diving into water is an activity which causes re-. latively few drownings in. Can- ada. But its toll in serious injur- ies is frightening. Every year, dozens of Canadians injure them- selves seriously by making dives into the Water. Some dive into water that's too shallow, some in- jure themselves by attempting stunt diving, inners rail to pull out of a dive in time and still, others crash into swimmers al- ready in the water. in too many' cases, the result is a broken nsck, If " these victims had looked be- lore they lept, they would have avoided injury. The tragedy of these diving accidents is that most of the victk inns are under 30 years -of age They are in their prime. Such an accident sniff's out any future they might have had,, leaving no- thing for them, but a life of mis- ery in a. wheelchair. ,June 6 to June 12 is Red Cross 'Water Safety Week in Canada. It's a good time for everyone to heed the advice of the Red Cross to be water. wise and "look before you leap". FALL FAIR DATES Alvinston Oot. 1.
