The annual Decoration
service of Western Star Lodge and
the Brussels Branch of the Royal
Canadian Legion was held at the
Brussels cemetery on Slinday
afternoon.
James Edgar of Listowel,• a past
Noble Grand of Western Star
Lodge, was in charge of the
i.o.o.r. service. Louis Ebel read
the names of deceased brethren,
Mrs. Ray Bronson, N.G. of Morn-
ing Star Rebekah Lodge the
names of deceased members and
Thomas •McFarlane of the Brus-
sels Legion the names of their
departed comrades. David Mc-
Cuthcheon of Western Star and
Mrs. Rae Crawford of Morning
Star performed the duties of
Chaplains.
Rev. H. L. Jennings of St.
John's Anglican Church • and
padre of the Brusseis Legion who
Was the speaker, gave an inspir-
ing address.
The Legion Pipe Band was in
attendance.

met for their June meeting on
Friday evening in the church
parlour with •members from the
Missionary societies of Knox
Church, Belgrave and Moles-
worth Presbyterian Church as
their guests. Tile president, Mrs.
James Mair, Was in the chair. The
devotional period was in charge
of Mrs. George Evans who read
the scripture and Miss Bessie
Moses led in prayer. A vocal
duet Was contributed by Mrs. W.
C. Kerr and Winnifred .14.1dgar
accompanied by Mrs. W. C. King.

Was introduced by the president
and her very seasonal address
Was entitled "Recreation". she
divided it into three parts — rest,
activity a nd rejuvenation. Miss
Moses expressed the deep grati-
tude of the audience for her very
fine address. Another pleasing
musical number was a plum
duet "The Holy City" by Mrs.
W. C. King and Mrs. Harold.

WM. FLEMING GRAINGER
Fleming" Grainger, 74,
RR 2, I3luevale, died at his home
on Saturday. A son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Grainger
he farmed all his life. On April
9, 1919, he married Margaret
Earls. He is survived by his wife;
one daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Jean)
Workman, Brussels; three grand-
children; a brother, Wilber, RR
2, Wroxeter, Funeral service was
held, from the D. A. Rann funeral
home on Monday, conducted by
the Rev. H, L, Jennings of St.
John's Anglican Church, Brus-
eels Burial was in. Molesworth
cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl
Johnston, Cecil Payne, Geo. Ross
'Russ Bradshaw, Jim Adams and
Harvey Bradshaw, Allan Mc-
K.ercher and Alex Shaw were

Jack "The Ripper" 1V1cCut-
cheon, of Brussels, driver of stock;
car No. 73, had a very good night
of racing at Flamboro Speed-
way, Hamilton, on Saturday,
when ho took two firsts and a
third. Out of a possible 60 points
Jack "The Ripper" scored 56 of
them.'
Jack also won his first feature
at the Delaware Speedway last
Friday night.

squeezed by the R.C.A.F. by the
score of, 4 to 3. Keith Pletch and
Ivan Dow each collected two hits
for Beigrave. Willie U'Ree had
two hits for the R.O.A.r.

Belgrave, Pletch and W. Coultes
In Brussels the R.C.A.F. shaded
Belgrave by the score of 5 to 3.
Murray Elston led Belgrave at
the plate with two hits and driv-
ing in all three runs. Mullaney
homered for the R.C,A.F, late in
the game.

Better Living'', the story of the
All Electric Home, was shown.

prepared Buffet Refreshments,
saying don't wait until the table
is too small i'or the company to
use, to serve a buffet meal. This
was an open meal consisting of
Golden Drumsticks (chicken),
m en ian Rice Deluxe, Inixfiry
Limas, and Choc, Chip Walnut.
I Squares. Miss IVieMaster Pre-,
pared these four dishes and then
demonstrated now these could
all be cooked at once in your
electric oven. She then spoke on
the Westinghouse aPpliances
on display from Oldfield Hard-
ware, showing all the advantages
of modern appliances. Mr. Tilson
explained the advantages of the
Cascade 40 Water Heater, A five
minute intermission followed.
; Mr, Tilson spoke on table
lamps Stating that the purchase
of a good table lamp from a re-
liable dealer always paid off. Use
a lined shade in neutral tones,
having base of bulb at base of
shade, at eye level when. sitting.
Mr. Tilson then demonstrated his
culinary art with — Irish Stew?
t . This provoked much merriment
from the audience. For this he
used a deep fat fryer, which he
named a "Deep Flat Flyer".

demonstrations using small ap.

Huron County Historical
Society Open Meeting
Mr. Norman Wade of (Gorrie
was the speaker at a 'Meeting of
the Huron County nistorleal
Spciety held in Howick Central
School, He told, of the early days
Of Howick Township.
Mrs Meek of Orediton, Kea-
dent Of the society, conducted
the 'business session and sug-
gested that interested persons
should copy the inscriptions in
old deserted cemeteries while the
stones still exist.
The Lakelet Women's institute
Presented a display of quilts and
dishes. Ford-win Linstitute held
a faehion show of antique dres-
ses. Wrmeeter and Gorrie Insti-
tutes provided lunch.
Music was contributed by the
Harris family 'of Fordwich and
Mrs. Norman Dixon, Mrs, Howard
Harris of Fordvrich organized
the infecting.
