Bride-Elect IS Honored
At Miscellaneous Shower
Miss Marlene Jacklin was guest
of honor when friends gathered
in the Brussels Library to shower
her with miscellaneous and pantry
gifts.
The room was tastefully decor-
ated with colorful baloons and
wedding bells.
Guests were received and signed
the Bride's Book. The bride-elect,
her mother, Mrs. L. Meehan, and
the mother of the groom-elect Mrs.
Ned Rutledge, were presented with
corsages,
An enjoyable evening was spent
in contests and games.
Miss Jacklin was seated in a
decorated chair, with her mother
and Mrs. Rutledge while Miss Ruth
,McTaggart read an address ex-
pressing the good wishes of her
friends, and Misses Kathy Ebel
and Patty Meehan presented a
decorated wagon of lovely and
useful gifts.
Marlene expressed her thanks
for the gifts and good wishes of
her friends.
Lunch was served by the host
esses.

The marriage of Janet. Eliz-
abeth Batkin and David John
McOutcheon took place Satur-
day, April 24th, at E. a.m. in
Ontario Street .Gniteu e,ourch in
a setting of Easter lillies. '
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Batkin of
Clinton, The parents of the
groom are Mr. and Mrs. Jack
.McCutcheon of Brussels.
The double ring ceremony was
performed by the Rev. Grant
Mills. Miss Louise Grasby accom-
panied the soloist,. jack Cook,
of Ingersoll and played the
traditional wedding music.
The bride, given ha marriage
by her father, wore a gown of
Thor-length peau de sole. The
princess bodice featured a scoop
neckline and lily point sleeves.
The dramatic skirt was enhanced
with jewelled lace appliques, fal-
ling into a chapel train from the
waist. Her veil, of bouffant tulle,
was elbow length held by a warc.?,,d
floral crown. She carried a white
bible with red roses.
Mrs. Averett Thompson of Walk-
erton, was her sister's matron of
honour. Her bridesmaid's were her
sister-in-law, Mrs. Douglas Batkin
of Port Loring and her cousin
Miss Ruth Ann Batkin of Clinton.
The attendants wore similar
sheath dresses of turquoise blue
georgette over taffeta with long
puffed sleeves, in street length.
Head pieces were musters of
white satin flowers with short
veils of turquoise tulle, matching
shoes,' white gloves and they
carried a crescent of 'white Dom
porn mums,
Marna Coiling or ,.-ltratford, was
flower girl and Philip Cook of
Ingersoll was ring bearer.
The best man was Ralph Clew,
Clinton and ushers were Douglas
Batkin, brother, of the bride, Port
Loring and Brian Rutledge, of
Brussels, cousin of the groom.

The District Deputy Governor,
Ray Cooper of Fordwich was a
guest at the regular supper meet-
ing of the Brussels Lions Club on
Monday night,

MRS ELIZABETH ELLIOTT
Mrs. Elizabeth F.411iOtt, 95, passed
away Friday, in the Callander
Nursing Rome, Brussels, after a
six months illness.
Born in Oxford County in 1869,
she was a daughter of the late
Thomas Greenslade and Bella
Bruce or Oxford County,
She went as a child, with her
parents to North Bruce where she
grew up and pioneered, later
returning. She married Hugh
R. Elliott of Trey TOwnship in
1Ii i and lived in Graham's Sue-
vey, one-half mile south Of 'Brus-
sels. When health permitted she
was a faithful member Of Mel.
Ville PreSbyterian tilmtch,
Her husband predeceased her in
1935. She is survived by one nep-
hew, Bruce Greenslade, Windsor;
a great niece, Mr4 Ntekasno,
Galt; step grandchildren in the
west and several cousins,

on Menday from the D. A. Rahn
amoral hone, COridtieted by Rev.
W. ,T, Morrison Of Melville
Church.
Burial was in Brussels ceme-
tery.

members present.
This meeting was held to plan
for the Hydro Show Time to be
held on 'Wednesday, June 2nd,
1965. in the Brussels Legion Hall.
