They were the children who lived outside those areas Where treatment centres were establish- ed. They were also the children in those rural and remote areas of the province who, required resid- entia.1 care. They were the child- ren for whom our overcrowded general hospitals had no room when surgery or other corrective procedures were completed. To meet the demands that were being placed on the treatment centres of some of the larger Ontario cities, a provincial treat- ment centre was established in Toronto and this was the building of the Ontario Crippled Children's centre. Now, extremely difficult cases are referred to this Centre from all parts of the province, where their problems will receive the attention of leading medical, dental and surgical specialist; where they remain for long term treatment and observation: and where crippled children re- siding in the heavily populated part of central Ontario have. for the first time, adequate out- natient services. The Ontario Crippled Children's Centre is really the rehabilitation headquarters for thousands of children. Every day bus loads of children from. the metropolitan Toronto area are taken from their home to the Centre and back home again The' rehabilitation hospital part of theTentre is ac- 'COITiodating the other children. who have been broug,ht in from far distant noints of Ontario. During this Easter season the recognition and assistance that is given to the Easter Seal cum- paign guarantees that more (Tippled , eiloul Lux will grannie to young adults and be able to , take their place in the world.
