The meeting will be held in St. John's Anglican Church. A joint chair will lead the singing. Kvery woman in the district is urged to attend. PEOPLE WE KNOW Rev. W. A. Williams who has been hospitalized the past several weeks has returned home, Mrs. Calvin Krauter, who has been a patient in St. Mary's hos- pital, Kitchener, is expected hom,e this week. Mr. and Mrs. Jack McDonald have been holidaying in Florida. Lester Median, Toronto, spent the week-end at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Machan. Mr. and Mrs. F. McCutcheon have returned home from a va- cation in Florida. Mr. and Mrs, A. Wood who were vacationing at Nassau, in the Bahama Islands, have re- turned home. We are pleased to report that Mrs. J. W. Fischer, who has been a patient in St. Mary's Hospital, is home. Dick McQuarrie and Gordon Stephenson were winners of the Lions NHL hockey draw last week. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Parker and Mr. and Mrs. George McCutcheon left Sunday for a. Florida va- cation. Mr. and, Mrs. Joseph Brewer left from Malton Airport this week on a non-stop flight for a ten day vacation at Nassau. GUIDES TO USE OFFTICIAL FLAG As the new Canadian Flag was declared official as of FebruarY 15th, it has been announced that the Girl Guides of Canada will use this official flag in place of the Union Jack. RADIO NEWSCAST CAUSE - OF EXCITEMENT HERE A radio newcast on Tuesday night flooded the B. M. & G. telephone switchboard here with calls from, frantic relatives and friends. The newcast reported a disas- trous nursing home fire, which took the lives of nineteen per- sons, in Brussels, Belgium. The anxious callers apparently caught the Words Brussels. and nursing home hut failed to hear' that it was. in Belgium. Figure Skating Club To Present Ice Revue The Brussels Figure Skating Club will present their second Ice RevUe in the :Brussels Aresa on Relate in the :Brussels Arena on S.1c.a.,ters will participate in this event, • - Watch for further particulars. Nm,vit..LE GuiLp 'Twenty - five members and friends gathered in the church parlour on February 16 for an en- joyable pot-luck supper followed by the regular meeting. Helen Elliott presided at the piano for a lively sing-song after which the meeting opened with a valentine poem, by Jessie Little. The scripture, John 15: 9 - 17 was read in unison and a timely topic entitled "Learn To Relax" was given by Helen Elliott• in which it Wns stated, "Of late Years nervous disorders have multiplied, indicating the need to new down and pause for relax- ation, A tranquil view of life adds to fhe joy of existence and in- as es our span of years." Margaret McCutchebn led in Prayer and the Mizpah bene- diction closed this part of the eetin7. Aileen Mutter took the chair for business proceecungs. The roll call was answered by a verse containing the word "love". A committee composed of Aileen, Jean Stiles and Jessie Little were nominated to meet with the W.M.S, and Ladies' Aid. Eight new members were added to the roll and a contest Enjoyed under, the leadership of Jessie and Margaret McCutcheon. WALTON Scouts Cubs, Attend Dinner The 'Boy Scout and Cubs of the Walton area, with their fathers, leaders, and group committee° members were guests at a dinner in Duff's United Church. Among those presefit were the District CoMnaissioner, V. 1. McIntosh of St. Marys, Ronald Eyre, Egraondville, assistant. The guest speaker; Sydney Jolley, of Brucefield, who is the assistant commissioner in Huron DiStriet, showed slides illustrat- ing scouting activities overseas. Mr. Jolley, who was introduced by Campbell Wey. was extended the thanks of the gathering by William Leeming. James Smith was chairman for the occasion, Rev. A. Higgin- botham welcomed the guests. The dinner was catered by the Me illo.p group of Duff's 150W They were thanked, by" 1VIrs. Bennett, Bantams Extend Winning Streak On Wednesday night of last week the Brussels Bantams travelled to. Zurich for the first game in a best 2 out of 3 series in which they came out victor- ious by a score of 5 - 2. Goals scored by Terry Rutle0ge, 2; Kim trn es, 2. and Neil GOW,Mg 1. On Friday night' Zurich came to Brussels and after a bard fought bottle the Brussels boys again came out on top to win Ii and take the series 2 games to none. Tuesday night of this week, February 23, the Brussels boys moved on to Ripley where they played the first game in a best of 3 series and once again came through with a S - 5 win. Goals scored by Terry Rutledge 4; Neil Cowing 2: Doug Carrie and Paul McDonald one each, Assists by Paul McDonald 2; Terry Rutledge, 2; Doug McLean and Neil Cow- ing one each. These boys play good hard hockey, fast and clean. :It may interest readers to know that in 16 games thus far they haVe had only 58 minutes in penalties called against them. On Thursday night February 25, Ripley will visit Brussels for the second gathe at 8.34 p.m. Pee Wee and Milaet Games Also on Thursday night Brus- sels and Newry Pee Wees Will start a 2 out of 3 series at 7' p;m. Oa Friday night, Feb. 26, Stone School and Brussels Midgets will also Meet in the first of 2 out of 3 series at 9 p.m,, with a Squirt game at 7 p.m. ice Fishinq Ned Rutledge, Lou Ebel, and Wayhe Low were iri Orillia dur- ing the Week end. Topnotch Feeds Limit0d, or Brussels Was broken into and the; office ransacked. 'The thieves left the office safe untouched, possibly because it was partially chsetnied by office supplies. As far as had been ascertained Taesday morning, the breale-in artists got nothing for their trouble. They left the office littered with record sheets and business papers they had dumped out of desk drawers. Admittance to the building was gained by smashing pane of glass in the door in the west end of the front of the building and when, the found they could not reach, the latch they pried the door and smashed the lock, It is believed they entered the office by way of a basement stairs. McCutcheon :Motors McCutcheon Motors had a sum of money, and a quantity of cigarettes stolen when the thieves smashed a side window and sash to gain entry. lidlcavin Farm Equipment The building first ocupied by McGaVin Farm.
