1 stick cinnamon
8 whole cloves
12 whole allaniee
Drain pearS.- Reserve juice and
dombine with cinnamon, cloves,
allspice and vinegar. Marinate
pears in spiced juice in refriger-
ator 24 hours. Drain cut-side ap
on platter. Garnish by stedding
around the indentations in each
pear half with whole cloees.

united in marriage in Brussel*
United Church at 8:30 p.m. on
November `20th in a setting of
candlelight and white nuns
The double ring ceremony was,
perfornied by the Rev. A. John-
ston. Miss Sharon Storey, at the
organ, provided traditional wed-
ding music.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Devries,
R.R. a, Brussels. Mr. and Mrs.
David Triebner, A.R.. 3, Kipperi,
are parents of the groom.
bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose a floor-length
gown of white peau de sole with
scooped neckline, unmounted
sleeves, and cummmerbund of
white brocade. Her elbow leng-
th veil was held by a wedding
ring crown of white brocade
matching the cummerbund. She
carried' a baguet of pink and
white carnations.
....Miss Shirley LievrIes, sister of
the bride, who was maid of
honour, and the bridesmaid, Miss
Brenda Triebaer, sister of the
groom, wore identical street-
length dresses of moss green
peau de sole with matching
wedding-ring headresses, and,
carried wedding-ring circles with.
pink and white carnations around
the bottom.
Gary Jones, Seaforth, was
groomsman and Brian Triebner,
brother of the groom, ushered.
At the reception at the home of
the bride's parents, the bride's
mother was dressed in a two piece
turquois brocade dress with
white and black accessories and
wore a corsage of white carnet-
iorui, The groom's mother wore
a teal blue crystal Sheath with•
matching hat, black accessories,
and corsage or pink carnations.
For a honeymoon trip the bride
donned a three piece wool boucle
suit of Caribbean blue, with white
hat and gloves, black suede shoes
and purse. Her corsage was pink
sweetheart roses.

The Bazaar of the Ladle's Aid
of Knox Church held on .Saturday
in the Community Cen.tre was a
most successful event despite
rather unfavourable weathex Mr.
Alfred Knight, Clerk of the Ses-
sion, welcomed the guests and
opened the bazaar. Many articles
of sewing, knitting, and fancy
Work were featurea, uesmes all
manner of home-made baking,
candy, etc. Christmas cards
were also sold. Tea,' coffee,
sandwiches' Cookies and relishes
were served in the basement by
the lunch committee.
The service in Knox Church
on Nov. 29th was is charge of
Mr. Stephen A, Jones:

Thuell and Mrs. Elmer Ellacott
attended the funeral of Mr.
George ,Smaildon in St. Thomas
on 'Thursday, NQi,v. 26. george,
oldest son of Tom, bmaildon, a .
former ' Cranbrookite, passed
away suddenly at his home in
St. .Thomas at the age of 55, from
a heart attack.

the Perdue-Depaw wedding in,
Alvinston on Saturday. The
groom is a son of Mr. .and Mrs.
Eiverett Perdue.
Mr. and Mrs. RoSs Speiraii or
Saginaw spent several days last
week with Mr, and Mrs. Fred'
Smaildon and other relatives in
the district.
Miss Kate McNabb, Tilaiskara-
lug, spent the week-eud with Mr.
and. Mrs. Martin McDonald.
