MEMORIAL CENTENNIAL
OATES UNVEILED AT
' SLYTH PAIR GROUNDS
Sunday afternoon, was a red-
letter day for Myth Agricultural
society, when many gathered
'at the fairgrounds to see the un-
veiling of the centennial memorial
gates, which_ were erected at the
entrance to the grounds.
The gateway of faced field
stone are the work of stone-
masons Wilmer Rutledge and
Tom. Lawrence, of Goderich.
The bronze, plaques on either
1 gate were unveiled by past
presidents of the Society,
George Watt and Bailey Parrott.
Robert Henry the president,
was in charge of the program,
Rev. William J. Mains, of
Londesboro, representing the
ministerial Association of the
area, opened the ceremony and
offered the dedicatory prayer.
Wingham Salvation Army band
led in the service of song.
Elpressing congratulations
were Borden Cook, reeve of
Hallett Township; SteWart Proc-
ter, reeve of Morris Township,
and Ralph Jewell, warden of
Huron County, who said he was

of Trustees have been working
on plans far the erection of e;
Chapel. The architects dravririgt
are now complete and tendert
for buildingwill be called as soon I
' as sufficient funds are on hand.
We earnestly solicit your
financial help. Many have made a
' donation but we are short of our
starting objective. Won't you
please make your donation now,
in memory of loved ones that are
resting in our Cemetery. It will
provide shelter for those attend-
ing burials at the cemetery
during the winter ffonths.

on,
Murray Gaunt, MPP for Huron-
Bruce, said Blyth fair is one of
the better little fairs, and he
looked forward to its centennial
fair, Elston Cardiff, MP for
Huron said small fairs are just
as important as the larger ?aim,
as they foster a real community
spirit. Arthur Rowan, provincial
president of agricultural Societ,

Mr. Stewart presented President
Henry with a cheque for $1.,000,
as a, grant from the provincial
government to aid with the cost
or the metnerial gates.
The total cost was $1,00018
and this included the cost of
both bronze plaques,
Mr. SteWart was thanked by
Lorne Thanking, Viee`PrePident.
The women of the society
served lunch in the exhibit hall.
