Board on October 29th, 1912 and

A meeting was held by the
building comniittee on •Dec. 10th.
1142 to make plaes and let the
contracts. On March 5th, the
tenders for building were opened
anc the contract let iu .sir. izer-
luau and Mr. Avery for $4215.00.
The corner stone was laid by Mr.
John MacDonald of Etilei. The
lumber from the old church was
used :n the kitchen of the base-
ment, the flooring and seats were
used there too. The old church
building, box stoves and pipes
were sold by auction. on. February
13th l$14. The circular seats and
pulpit were purchased from. the
Waterloo Furniture Co. for $571
and the furnaces for 4235.
Mrs. J. K. Baker donated the
Minister's in memory of her
daughter, Mrs. Luke Caldwell
Speiran.
Mr. Wren left in 1913 and. Rev.
McKeivey took his place.
On. Sunday March 8th 1914, the
new Union. Church was dedicated
at the morning service by Rev.
George McAllister M.A. of Exeter
President or London Conference,
At 2:34 Rev. D. Wren of Brussels
preached. and at 1.30 Rev.
McAllister occupied, the pulpit.
Then on Sunday March 15th
Rev,: J. W4 Ilibbert, Chairman
of Wingham district preached
at both services., A fowl supper
was served. Monday night from
6 to 8 p,m. followed by a splen-
did program 'by local talent.,
In April 1947 the church was
wired for hydro, In 1951 a Min-
shall electric organ Ind chimes
was bought from the Reinteman
Co. for $3.427.

After Rev. Brenton left the
Pastoral charge of Ethel, Roe's
and 'Union was dissolved, Roe's
having been closed, and Ethel
joining with Brussels to make a
two-poi nt charge,
Union was sueeessful in
obtaining the services of Rev. G.

Hazelwood of Walton as a sup-
ply and his successor, Rev. Meurig
Thomas continue:: to supply
until his health wouldn't permit
it. Then Brussels allowed their
minister, Rev. Lloyd Brown to
supply Union Church When he
left the church was able to obtain
the services of Rev. Mrs. Arthur
Jackson for a year and a half.
At a meeting or the Presbytery
Rev. Griffiths of Brussels was put
iii charge of meeting with Union
congregation to pee what could
be done. After two meetings it
seemed that closing the church
was inevitable and the last ser-
vice was held on Dec., 31, 1962,
Tenders on the church OUP-
ing were called for and a sale
of all the church furnishings
was advertised and held in Nov-
ember 1963.
We were so happy when the
Conservative Mennonite Church
of. Ontario bought the building
for we know that under the new
new name of Zion Mennonite
Church it will continue to spread
the gospel fOr which it was built
fifty years ago.
The meeting was opened by the
4-le pledge. Thesecretary's re,
port Was read followed, with the
roll call with all members pres-
ent.
The ,monthly - meeting of the
Brussels 47 Dairy Calf Club was
held on the farm of pm Bray.
A class of Holstein cattle were
judged and a lesson on feeding
was taught. A quiz was held.
The meeting was followed by
lunch.
