Pnoeraoaus Pon RATS. -The following
recipe was sent to an English Agricultu-
ral Society several years ago, and was
found to be a sure means of getting rid
of these troublesome little animals: "Melt
lard in a bottle plunged in warm water
and heated nearly to a boiling point.
Turn into it half an ounce of phosphorus
for every pound of lard, then add a pint
of alcohol or the very strongest of whis-

it until it is well mixed, and looks milky.

Act well your part. Don't be selfish.
Remember that it is by imparting happi-

this truth; live it out, and always keep
doing something useful for the common
good, doing it well, and acting sincerely.
tEndeavor to keep your heart in the atti-
