Wingham Trade Fair which con-
cluded on, Saturday. Brenda, 18,
is a grade 13 student at Seaforth
and District High School.

eghan on Tuesday June 9,
The kits were packed for the
canvassers.

Mr. and Mrs. John Wslson cele-
brated their Golden Wedding An-
niversary Wednesday when they
held open house at their home
here and received a heat Of
friends and relatives who c'aked
to bring them congratulations
and good wishes on this occasion.
The uple, who both enjoy
good health, were, married at

were her attendants at her wed-
ding 50 years ago, Mrs. Arthur
(Lola) Nicholl of Brodhagen,
bridesmaid; and, Mrs. Calvin
(Lydia) Cameron of ,Craebrook,
flowergirl, were both present at
the annirversaray celebrations.

The couple 'have two .children,
Mrs. Earl (Merle) Bowes, Ethel;

Fund Raising Cainpaign
'During Month of June
To coincide with the fund rats-,
ing campaign being staged by
the Brussels Branch 218 of the
Royal Canadian Legion, this
article is being written for the
benefit of those who may wish
to donate to this building,
The Brussels Branch of the !
Royal Canadian Legion (former-
ly known as the Canadiae Legion
of the British Ernoire Service
League) was formed on the 2nd
of November 1931 with the
following charter members: Fred
W. Burchell, Wni. (Bid) Bell,
S. B. Elliott, Edward Garton,
George Harmon, Joseph. M. ltedlY,
C. P. Lockwood, George Manning,
H, Phillips, Robert Patrick,
'Stanley Rutledge, C. H. Stubbart,

Throughout the years before
World 2, these men along with a
few others that joined at a later
date, met in the homes of the
members and in the Town Hall
and blend the branch together
until the World War 2 veterns
returned and began to join thei
branch. 'The !membership then
rose to over 115 members On
the fourth day of May, 1946 the
Present hall was purchased from
Mr. Norman 'Thompson.
The first President of the
BranCh was, Fred W. Burchell

Russell Knight, Joseph Kelly,
Charles Stubbert, Geo. Harmon,
George Inglis. Frank ,Shaw,
Morris Wineherg, Harold Thomas;

In March, of 1961 a building fund
was started and the interest of
the members was raised at this
time fot a new hall. At the,
general meeting of December
6th, 1961, 'if was Passed that a
new hail was to `be built.
As the former town ball site
was now vacant, it was decided to
aperoach nthe Village Council to
see it it Was possible to pur-
chase this site. At the next Coun-
cil meeting this was done, and
the Int was donated to the branch

On Sunday, June 7th, tne a.nnualt
Church Parade of the Saugeent
District Boy Soouts of Canada
was held in Brussels Park with
approximately 400 cubs, scouts and
their leaders in attendance.
The parade formed at the fair
grounds and headed by the Brus-,
sets Legion Pipe Band, marched to
Victoria Park, where the services
were conducted with the Rev, H L.
Jennings in charge. Rev. J. W,
Morrison led in prayer and eev.
A. Johnson delivered the sermon.
Father Freker spoke biefly to all
Catholic boys present. The hymns
were accompanied by the Saivat-
imt Army Band of Wingha,rn.
After the services the parade
re-formed behind the Legion Pipe
Band and marched back to the
fair grounds• passing a saluting
base on the main street with Mr.
A. Gowonlock, District Commis-
sioner, taking the salute.
An important feature of the
day was the preeentation of the
Queen's Scout Award to Glenn
Machan of Brussels.
The weatherman held back
the rain. and the day was very
enjoyable for all.
Ethel 'Lady Honoured
On 90th Birthday
'Mrs. Mary E. Ames held open
house, afternoon, and evening,
June 6th, at her home in Ethel,
on the occasion, of her
90th birthday. Around one hund-
red friend and relatives called.
'The table was centred with
a birthday cake while gift flowers
added colour to the setting.
Mrs, Ames has been a resident
of Ethel for 43 years. She is a
m ember of the United Church,
where she IS a life member of the
Missionary Society and a charter
member of the 'United Church
Women, also a memner of Ethel
W*,' I. for 50 years.
Congratulatory messages were
received from Prime Minister
Les,er B. Pearson, and Elston.
Cardiff; M.P., along with numerous
other cards.
