There were two spot skates one of which was won by Mrs. :Ken McDonald and Murray Iluether who received a box 0! The library was decorated in a, Spring theme with inaividuai tables centred with daffodils. Noble Grand Edna Pearson. -welcomed 'the guests and thanked the many who took pare She also introduced the commentator, Mrs. Mrs.. Wm. Rintoul of 'Wingham. Mrs. Lillian Wood supplied the lovely spring hats and accessar- ies from her Westside Shoppe. Mr. W. GI. Leach showed the beautiful costume Jewellery :which was tastefullY displayed by. Mr& Jean Leach and Mrs. Cathy Mooberry, Mrs. Itintoul was a very capable commentator assisted by :Barbara Jean McOutcheon or Morning Star Lodge. The wee models stole the show they were so adorable in their Easter finery. They were little Michelle Rintoul, Bbniiie Lee ' Richmond and Debbie McCall. The adult rataiels Were Barbara. Mcentcheon, Irene Richmond,. Betty. Bronson, Winnifred Edgar, Marilyn 'Higgins, Mary Davidson, Lois McCall, Aletha Bann ana Blayne Rintoul. Tea was served by members of Morning Star Lodge. Mrs. Wesley 'Wallace of RR 3, Palmerston, was the lucky win- ner of ahe new spring hat. Meeting Mrs. Fred Stnalldett was hostess for the regular monthly meeting of the Women's sgionary Society, Mrs. John. Schnook, the leader followed the Easter service in 'the Glad Tid- ings. Mrs. Mac Engel Engel read "The Man Who' Missed Easter" and Mrs. Stanley Fischer gave the Glad Tidings Prayer. The arasident, Mrs. Earl Dunn, con- ducted the business: Thirteen were in attendance and the roll call was answered with a verse containing cross. The topic "Hew are we, the Presbyterian Church in Canada, in India"? was in charge of Mrs, Wilfred. Strickler. -lie was assisted by mrs. ie. G. Lunch Was served and a social tjrne PlaRlYed, J, It ittt1fer1P1 Bride Elect 'Honoured By 'Friends And Neighbours, An enjoyable evening was naa on Saturday, April 4th when friends and neighbours gatnered at the home of Mrs. George Pollard. The occassion being anisciallaneoug: shower for Miss Phyllis Riley, bride of the 'month. The evening was spent with, contests conducted by Mrs. Cud- more. Gifts were presented to the bride-to-be in a decorated buggy by Janet Blake and Brenda Pollard. Phyllis thanked everyone 'present and invited them to her new home, Lunch was served. 'Easter Meeting' The Easter meeting of the Women's Missionary Society was held on Friday, April 3, in the church parlour. The Presi- dent Mit. W. ,Smith; Was in the chair and opened the meeting with an Easter hymn, "Christ the Lord is risen today" follow- ed followed by the Lord's Prayer repeated in unison. The Scripture reading from St. John Chap. 21 was read by Mrs. Wes 'Kerr and Mrs. Roy 'Turvey led in prayer. The Easter message "The Last Ejght Days of Life of Jesus" was given by Miss Bessie Moses followed by a beautiful solo "Open the Gates of the Temple" by Mrs. Carl Douglas of Belmore. The roll call was responded to, by a verse containing the word rise and visits to the shut-ins were recorded. Mrs, smith conducted the business part of the meeting. A hymn was sung and the meeting Was closed with tam Mispah benediction. Business Changes In Brussels George iledgt4 has sold his business property and living ,quarters on 'Thomas Streeit to Reinhart Bauer of Gowanstowon who takes possession April 15. Mr. Bauer will conduct the Massey Harris business on these, newly acquired premises. George McCutcheon has bought the building at present occupied 'by the Massey Harris agent. John Henna is the new owner of Personal Dry 'Cleaners. Ever remembered axl0 sal PISIfit, • • • Miss Sylvia Hoover reigned as the chosen Queen or the Carnival when the Brussels arena was the scene of another successful event, the annual Skating Carnival, on. Friday night, held for the first time on the artificial ice surface installed this year. Many costumed skaters partici- pated itt the various classes and. the races brought a large numb- er of speedsters into competition, Costumes were beautiful, orig• - inal, and varied, ranging from a colorful butterfly and bushy tailed skunk to a headless man, With' •tramps, dumbeejacks, rep- resentatives of nationalities, and lovely ladies and gallant gentle- men, among, others, together with the spectators, all enjoying the carnival spirit The 1964 Queen, Miss Syvia Hoover, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hoover, received her crown from last 'year's Queen„ Miss Linda Wilson. The Brussels Morris and Grey Recreation Committee were sponsors of the carnival. The Rev. Allan Johnston was Master of Ceremonies arid the activities Were conducted under the direct- ion of .1. M. McDonald, George McCutcheon and. Jack McWhirter who was in charge of the public address system.
