May Be Increased
Oining 1964
The annual meeting of the sub-
scribers of the Brussels Morris
and Grey Municipal Telephone
'System, held in the puolic library
at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 30th,
was poorly attendel with only 14
persons present.
Roy Cousins was appointed
(chairman for the meeting.
Minutes or the last annual
meeting were read by the sec-
retary, Ray Bronson, and adopt-
ed as read,
The. Auditor's and Annual re-
Potts were read and after a
'brief question period were adopt-
ed.
George Michie, Chairman of
'the Commission, gave a brief
'outline of the re-construction
work done the past year and what
is hoped to have done this year.
Eje also stated that the business
Tate for the telephone rental
may have to be increased this
year to raise more revenue and
also to come into line with sur-
;rounding exchanges, This would
-include 'businesses on multi-
'Party lines, not previously
'charged a business rate. Mr.
llichie also stated that the
'Ontario Telephone Service Corn-
'mission had advised them to go
'on quartely billing in 1955 in
-order to stop borrowing from
the Villiage, taus, cutting down'
interest charges. In regard to
going dial he thought it should be
looked into now but it would be
approximately four years before
it could be installea,
Lloyd Workinaln, 'Plant Man,-
ager, said all lines west of Brus-
sels on the 5th concession of
Morris Township to No. 4 High-
way and Belgrave are to be
buried owing to the County
Road widening program; a
section, of line to Walton will be
burled this year; some sections
of cable in Brussels are becom-
ing overloaded and new lines or
extra pairs will have to be in-
stalled. He also said it will re-
glare study and preliminary
planning before actual work can
commence on the dial system.
Election of Commission
A motion was passed that the
present Commission remain in
office for another term.
Mr. Cousins congratulated tne
commission on their re-election.
Business being concluded a
motion of adjournment brought

Prompt Action Of Fire
Dept. Saves. House

being destroyed by fire in a
blaze that levelled the garage
and its contents, including a sow
and litter of pigs.
The siren sounded in the early
hours of last Friday morning
during a snow storm and high
winds. The firemen, unable to
save the garage, directed their
efforts to preventing the house
from also being consumed: in the
blaze. The west wall suffered'
heavy damage.
The property is owned by R.
A. Bennett of Listowel, a forrner,
Brussels resident.

"The Wonderful World of
Music", the first Ice Revue to be
presented by the Brussels Figure
Skating Club, attracted a crowd
'that packed the arena here on
Saturday night. The PreSentation
delighted the 800 spectators, Over
700 paid admissians, the re-
mainder being those partici-

assisting them in various capa-
cities.
The ice surface reflected a
gala "showtime" appearance
from the colored lights with
which the Recreation Cominittee
bad festooned the :wards sur-
rounding it. This provided a
glowing setting for the perform-
ance of the skaters.
The 75 skaters of the local club,
from the youngest ones, many still
somewhat wobbly on their skates,
to the more accomplished young
ladies, with only ten periods of
instruction under the direction of.
Miss Faye Love, pleased their
audience from the opening numb-
er through the various groups of
numbers to the finale. The
'costumes, animals, bees, ponies
and other imaginative creations
inspired by the music to' W1i1Ch
