With the estimates of 13 de- partments yet to be presented to the Legislature 'for approval it looks as' tholigh the remaining 2 1/2 weeks before Easter will make long days and short nights if the Prime Minister hopes to complete this session before Easter. Last Monday the estimates of the Department of Transport began. Ile indicated that such a system would cost approx- t imately 3,2 million dollars to es- tablish. It would cost another 5 million dollars annualy to oper- ate it. In the estimates of the Depart- ment of Agriculture, Hon. W. A. Stewart stated that the total food needs in Canada are ex- pected to rise by some 70% in the next 20 years. World needs are expected to increase by 80%. '60% of all food sales in Ontario is now controlled by large food chains and another 20 per cent is in the hands of stores engaging in group buying. In 1962, the 'farm families of the Province paid more than 50 million dollars in real estate taxes to their local municipalities and all together paid out more than 650 million dollars for their operating goods and services and other expenses, thus making them one of the largest consum- er groups in Ontario.
