originally owned by Miss
Stewart's great grandfather,
Duncan Stewart, in 1831. Duncan

Mar Oalth le WA MC
was the guest speaker at t h
locia,1 Lions Club, held at St.
Ambrose Church on Monday
night,
Mr. Forbes gave an interest-
ing and informative address. He
said it is unfortunate that so
many people are not interested;
in Emergency Measurers. When
the Cuban crises was on you
could not buy a candle in Huron
County but their awareness'
evaporated with the crises
He told his audience that the
Federal and. Provincial grants
book '"11 Steps to Survival" has
been compiled giving directions
and precautions to take in the
event of nuclear war, This, and
other information can be obtain-
ed by asking at your local post
office. A County planning board
has been set up in Goderich.
Wingham, where there has been ti
unit for some time, will be head-
quarters for this area. Fire de-
partments, he said, play a vital
role in emergency methods. He
did not believe that nuclear war
was inevitable but it is better to
Abe prepared, as it is always a.
threat. The EMO,,covers not only
nuclear emerge;cy but that of
fires, floods and other disasters.
He told of preparations that have
been made at liuronview in case
of disaster; he would like to see
a warning system across Huron
County. The telephone and radio
are now 'the best means of com-
munication. At the conclusion of
his talk the speaker showed an
instructive film.
Mr. Forbes was introduced by'
Lion Calvin Krattter and thanked
by Lion Charles Thomas.
Lion President Cecil Parker
Presided and welcomed the guests.
He, later, also expressed apprec-
iation to the speaker.
Roll Call by the secretary, Lion,
C, McFadden, was answered by
the Lions introducing their guest
of 'the evening.
Donald McDonald was winner
of the guessing contest.
