The January Xnstitute meet.

Earl Cudmore and. Mrs. R.
W. Stephens , who brought the
members up to date on the events
leading up to the iormation of
eight Institute Branchee above the,
60th parallel. Some of the places
are Inuvik at the mouth of the
Mackenzie river, Fort McPherson
north of the Arctic circle, Dis-
covery and Fort Providence in
the Great Slave Lake Area and
' -Fait Norman. Harnes Junction,
iu the Yukon which had been
`formed by Mrs.. Hough of Strat-
ford while her husband was
istinerintendent of the Expert-
ental Farm there in 1956, It
was interesting to note that
while there she started garden
demonstrations that led to the
women making home gardens
and a fall fair that has becom
annual. This is a National.
project under the Department of
Northern Affairs and the Ind-
ian Eskimo association of Canad a
the F.W.LCI.. the. provinces will
be asked to contribute and the
Institute branches will be asked
to sand their contributions to
their provincial offices. It is also
under Unesco United Nation Plan
for Northern Canada by provid-
ing organizers to promote crafts,
workshops, leadership training,
Tide Uneeoc Project for our
Indian and Eskimo neighbours
and, fellow Canadians. is new,
interesting and an exercise in
citizenship and appeals strangely
to ThistleIto women in every
province.
Granton, a branch in Middlesex,
County has sent $200 and parcels
of books.

Figure Skating Classes
Begin This Friday
At press time PA Thursday,
there were overiferty enrolled for 1
the Figure Skating Glasses that
begin at the local arena on Friday ,
afternoon of this week under the
capable instruction of Miss Faye
Love. It is anticipated that there
will be fifty or more participate
ing when the classes get under-
way.
Mass Love is also the instructor
in Figure Skating at Mitchell,
Association. opened with the
singing of 0 Ceneda. with the
president Mrs. R. Raymond pre-
siding. The minutes or the pre-
vious meeting were read and
adopted and the treasurer's re-I
nort was given.
The holding of an amateur
contest was suggested and dis-
cussed and a COttimittee was
formed with the finance chair-
man, Ian McDonald heading the
committee.
The Home and School Assoc-
iation will stipervise ; afternoon
skating at the even, and a com-
mittee was formed to take charge
of this project.
Final plans were made for the
Mothers' March of Dimes Blitz
which will take place from 7 to
Feb. 8.,
Mrs. Tyerman.'s room once again
won the attendance banner,
A Figure. Skating Club has been.
planned for Brussels in. the future
and a group of volunteers to help
supervise the children was foinied;
A piano duet was given by
by Dorothy Elliott and Mary
Gibson, and two vocal solos were
given by Deborah Callender.

At the inaugural meeting of
Moiris School Board held Jan-
uary 9th, 1964, in the Township
Hall, James Elston was again'
chosen as chairman and Ralph`
Shaw named Secretary Treasur-
er.
The school buildings and con-
tents were re-insured with teto

Caretakers for all schools were
re-hired for 1964.
At time next regular meeting in
February the members plan on
visiting each of the schools, the
