NEWS ITEM.
Hurra4; After 5 years of bicker-
ing, bantering, pleading, coax-
ia and cussing, the Gentlemen's
Club will re-open very shortly in
the original Dog House, which we
should never have had to vacate
in the first place.
Since then we have been froze
out; rained out, asked out and,
burnt out twice. The old name
"Dog House" is. no more The
term now is only ?mentioned by i
a few uncultured and uncompli-
MOD tarY characters that belong
to the Sinners' Club, and some of
the Legion members who have
been, soundly whipped at euchre
by our gentlemen. The Dog
House, at one time, was a, haven
for henpecker husbands, a re-
treat where no women were
allowed. A few Rebekah'a did,
make a sneak visit, a midnite
prowl when the place Was
vacant, Just for curiosity and be-
cause women can't mind their'
own business. They were quite
jealous as we kept the place
clean. Just, imagine, 40 years and
it never had to be scrubbed,
Our new club is a Credit to all
and many thanks are due to our
members who worked during the
summer to re-build. repair arid
re-paint. Frank Thompson is our
strong man and ail heavy lifts
were left to this man with the
muscle. Frank no doubt developed
these muscles over the past
years by pressing down on the
avidigh scales
baloney.
alInfortunately I
help the members
ual labour. On
occasions I went down ready to
go to work with a saw, hammer
or paint brush, By a strange co-
incidence by the time I got as far
as The Brussels Post my Lum-
bago, or sciatica hit me, or I con-
tracted a sore back or stiff thumb
or something, figure it was
caused by the cold damp wind
blowing off the Maitland river.
Well, anyway, I am now greatly
improved and all members in
good health and hapPY Even if
we were all ailing we could still
whip the Legion, or any other
any night in the organization,
week.
A Happy New Year to all, event
Lamont.
