Fergus Patrick Connelly, 56,

Artificial Ice Ready At
Arena In Four Weeks
The Brussels arena has been
a beehive of activity during
the past weeks and artificial lee
will shortly be a reality.
The pipes have all been laid
and the cement floor was
poured and sanded this week,
It is expected that en artificial
ice surface Will be available to
the public in about four weeks,
The Brussels, Morris and Grey
Recreation Committee have been
well pleased with the response
'to the request for volunteer
labour.
There is still time to make
your donation to the Artificial Ice
Fund and it will be appreciated
by the committee in charge.

Officially Opened
Morris Township's largest
bridge Was officially opened Mon-
day by Murray Gaunt, Liberal
member for Huron-Bruce,
The $80,000 bridge replaces, a
,50-year-old span on the first
line of Morris Township, History
show a bridge at this spot was
one of five washed out by
floods in April, 1912.
The new bridge will ha
:known as' the Campbell Bridge
,commenioratine one of the early
families in this district, A
hronze plaque has been plaeed
(on the. side of the bridge and
'contains the names of the
reeve, council and road offic-
ials.
The opening was attended by

including Reeve Stewart Procter,

Ross Smith, James mair, W. R.
Siortreed, WilliaM 1VIcArter,
'road superintendent, ,Contractor
W, H. Fenn, district municipal
engineer, and R W. Dawson,

the Ontario Department of High-

Councillor Shortreed said 1913
records shew $43,000 was bor-
rowed to build five bridges in
the township destroyed the year
preYiees by floods.
Reeve Stewart Procter said

received word that the town-
ship will now receive a 60 per
cen.t subsidy on all ordinary
road construction for the, next
four years. Previously it was, 50
per cent subsidy. The subsidy Is
based on the assessment and
volume of township roads, '
