In preparation ter a Christmas
concert by the school, two com-
mittees from the Homo and. School
group were chosen to assist with
costumes. A date was picked for the
Amateur Night early, in the new
Year, Jan, 12. Miss Mitchell, primary
teacher, explained the system, of
grading for report cards, emphasiz-
ing the angle that each child is
encouraged to reach for higher
grading.
Leaders of girl guides, brownies,
boy scouts and cubs were present
and each explained the aims of the
teaching in 'their group. All stressed
building character, Co-operation and
service, teaching health habits,
hobbies land ha.ndoluetts. Gerta
Exel assisted Mrs. William Relling-
ton, girl guide captain, as she
described the the badges and awards
to he won. Susan McDonald display-
ed and described the brownie uni-
form. Mrs. Charles Arnold described
the work of the cubs and her son,
Danny Arnold was in uniform of the
cubs. Douglas Callender described
the conduct- of a cub meeting. Cecil
McFadden, boy scout leader traced a
brief history of the Sent movement
and assisted by David Kreuter, he
showed a Amber of badges that
could be won,
Mrs. Robert Raymond thinked
the school board for permission to
hold the meetings of their newly-
formed "Teen-Town" In the auditor-
ium of the school and to use the
kitchen equipment.
Following an announcement by
J. H. Stretton regarding smok-
ing by young public school
pupils, the Home and School Assoc-
iation went on record, ,condemlog
the vending- machine for cigarettes.

Stretton and Lawrie Cousins was
